There is a noticable decline today in the character of the typical Synthes sales person compared with the true gentlemen that once represented the company in years past. I'm sure there are some good ones still around but they are few in number anymore. The arrogance and sense of entitlement the current generation display coming into an o.r. where they are guests is simply hard to accept. I base this because I have worked in o.r. administration for over 30 years in 6 different hospitals. The Synthes guys used to be my favorites because they were there to help you and were never pushy. The Synthes reps today I deal with are aggressive, rude and disrespectful -- nothing like their predecessors. There was a time when people in my position went out of their way to show our support for Synthes because we believed in the products and more importantly believed in our local salesman. Not anymore. I know many of my colleagues feel the same way. My hospital barely uses any Synthes products any longer and nobody misses or longs for the days when Synthes ruled. I do remember them and when they were good they were great.
