COMET and SAP ERP support?

Most people in the company now admit that COMET is dead and a complete failure. Merck got worked over by SAP and IBM and have nothing to show for it, except for a billion dollars or so in bills.

Add Merck to the long list of failed SAP implementations.

Well, more that it lies with management for implementing it at such an insane scope in one step in the first place.

It seems like just about everybody who tries to implement it ends up with massive cost overruns, so I don't think you can blame the project team for that - just the decision to assume it would only take a few hundred million in the first place.

The really funny thing is after all of this money spent on COMET they are rolling out the "sap on a shoestring" from Schering-Plough solution in APAC, and now other countries want this over COMET (i.e. Brazil)....

Who cares what these countries want. This is an American Corporation. Americans make the rules!

Oh wait... I was dreaming... Do whatever the hell you want...just leave me alone.

can anyone explain what COMET stands for? and how it works?
how it was used in business or in any organisation

n where i can get more info on this COMET ERP system thnx in advance

I remember back in the in the day Lucent spent Billions on SAP. At the time Lucent was a high-tech company prior to shedding all of its real talent and assets to become a "service company". The Lucent folks could have built a way better application in house for a tenth of what SAP cost just to implement. Well shortly afterward Lucent dropped from $80/share to under a buck. Sorry not pharma but related to the incompetence with outsourcing thread.
