Expenses

"They pay us enough".
You are senior managements' wet-dream.
No bonus on Leqvio for a year? "We pay them enough"
3% merit increase on my mediocre salary? "We pay them enough"
Double someone's territory and make them do the twice the work they were doing a month ago? "We pay them enough".
The food at the national meetings is a total disgrace & I have paid for my own meals out of my own pocket many times, but by no means does that mean that they "pay us enough".
I’m not going to argue with you, you’re correct. That was a poor turn of phrase that I chose. I had wanted to say that I hate the expense reporting process so much that I’m willing to spend my own money on things like that rather than do the expense report. I do understand some of you guys got the shaft on your bonuses and in the whole process altogether. I’m sorry that happened to you. Hope things turn out better, but I am not so certain that we’re not going rent a whole lot of trouble in the coming 24 months. I’ve been in this game a long time as well, I am looking forward to getting out at some point. I really don’t want to die with my boots on. If I were speaking to a younger rep at this moment, I would advise them. Please start looking into another industry because I don’t think this is going to resemble anything that we have ever seen before within the next 5 to 10 years. This used to be a job that you make good money, a decent life, good work life balance, sometimes some interesting work, but no more.

When I started in Pharma 25 years ago it was probably one of the best industries to be in. Nowadays, it’s no fun anymore and will likely become even worse in the next years. The level of control, the compliance, the complicated procedures, the hoops we have to jump through combined with the next level of crazy everything at Novartis make for a difficult environment. Add AI, KPI’s and internal policies, rules, politics, uncertainty and reorganizations and I feel for running for the exit.

A old dysfunctioning microwave oven for your company car to act as a Faraday cage for all of your devices. You don’t have to worry about being tracked.

Oh my goodness, stop whining. If you’re so miserable go to a different industry.

No doubt. Somehow being good at selling doesn’t even seem to matter anymore, at least not at Novartis.
