Future of ACELL

Sinking ship, RUN! Product is alright, but the company is destined to fail, poor ethics and no leadership! Unreal some of the horror stories I have heard from reps there, most have left or are actively looking and feel that the company completely over sells the opportunity and income potential. Just another wound care company trying to get a piece of the pie and making false claims about their product...

I'm looking at taking job with them. I am currently a tech. at least four plastic docs here are going nuts with it. Current rep is moving to another state. I asked them specifically about their take. They seem to say its game-changer. ANyone know first year potential?

Game Changer? Really? for what? taking a product that was recalled due to pyrogenes and continuing to say it regrow fingers? Complete misrepresentation as most know the fibroblasts, armed with collagen, produced those results. They are definitely not typical as there is no genetic influence on regrowth of limbs without stem cells involved. Look at your biology and what really has to transpire to regrow a new limb, finger whatever.

It a good product but its not what is represented. Its not "game changing" by any means.

Come on get over it you keep saying that Acell makes claims to grow limbs and that is absolutely not true. That they can regenerate fingertips.. yes indeed seen it happen with my own eyes nail and all. Many biologics have been recalled due to pyrogenes .. check oit out yourself. Xenmatrix for one. Death have also been reported with some. Acell recall involved only the large area devices and very few of them. No bad outcomes were ever reported infact the company decided to recall these voluntarily. So get over over it!!@ It is an amazing product.. Agreed upper management needs a little structure and focus.

If you want to go to work for a company that every time a success is told it must be preceded with "what you are about to hear is off label, however". All of their sales strategies are tell an anecdotal story, hope the doctor doesn't ask you to prove it, use it off label. Now talk about the fact that you will be hired, at 3 months they want to know why you are struggling. At 6 months you go straight commission, no time to penetrate multiple accounts. You better pick one account and hope you hit gold. If not, your gone. How does this opportunity sound so far. That doesn't even go into the issues with management.

I got screwed big time by this company. I saw firsthand the product work really well, but no reimbursement for at all for the product. DOS lied or was misinformed about reimbursement. And, I couldn't believe how stupid management was in training reps on off label promotion on company wide email!

Good product with potential, but it is lead by a group of unprofessional morons. I didn't realize at the time but they did me a huge favor by letting me go after 3 months even though I got 12 doctors to use the product and got a local contract with 4 hospitals.

Run from this company until a real company buys them and cleans house.

you may want go back to the books big fella. fibroblasts armed with collagen? What type of mickey mouse science are you reading? Sounds like you are talking about dermagraft or apligraft. These are not fibroblasts seeded onto a crappy collagen structure. This is a purely complex collagen tissue without detergent or plastic coating for strength. No other product is producing these results. If so, why isn't the military using dermis, etc to regrow muscle tissue? Go back to your journals, look up the technology and see the evidence yourself. Positive stains for mesenchymal, and progenitor cells rather than simple fibroblastic phenotype. that's what you are looking for.. it's there. chemotaxis is the game changer. This is a growing company that didn't have to climb the corrupt system of payoffs, dirty studies, and slimy lobbyists. The press found them before they tried to be sophisticated. My take.. growing company trying to iron out their identity and management issues. They are being attacked because they don't fit the typical profile for a company that has grown so rapidly. You may not become wealthy carrying this product, however the evidence for its power is undeniable.

Evidence for its power is undeniable? Porcine Collagen Matrix? really? Medicare denies it everyday with your made up codes. Here is your kyryptonite superman...antimicrobials....now thats funny. Dream on and let the press know about it while your at it.

You do not get it, that is very evident.... You are in love with the science, but you lack the human data to gain reimbursement.... You quoting how you are regrowing muscle tissue for military is obnoxious; you are in essence saying you are experimenting on the military... Any surgeon worth their salt will just do a flap and get the member into rehab quicker and back with their lives quicker.... Microvascular flap procedures have come a long way, and are much more effective...so stop bragging you are using my military as lab rats.... I do not work for a wound care company, but I do consultation work for tissue regeneration companies.... All of the products on the market work for some and do not work for others.... No one product heals all wounds, and the problem with Acell is that they oversell the product and leave facilities passing the cost on to the patients.....

Welcome to healthcare sales today. Its not just this company either. The industry has dramatically changed.

You obviously have never made any significant money elsewhere or been with some of the top companies, I have. Believe me, ACell is a disaster. The turnover is rediculous. Don't you think you need to start asking the question why your attrition rate is so high???? Maybe the managers do not know how to hire if it's not the company?

were you in nashville? just wondering what market this was in....ugh

Did ACell acknowledge these comments? They are sadly mistaken if they think this is just a random few, nearly every ACell rep across the country wants out, and realizes the company is a joke (management (sales management in particular), reimbursement, pay structure, expenses, etc. etc. )

I agree with the post above..nearly every Acell rep across the country wants out ASAP. Reps talk to eachother and all have the same complaints and frustrations about the company. The national sales meeting next week should be interesting...I believe many people will quit soon after because it will be apparent just how bad things are and we will all have a chance to share stories.
Bottom line, If you have ever worked for a great medical device company, and ever seen over $175,000/ year you will leave Acell after 6- 12 months. Company is a complete train wreck and the terrible management, lack of data, and their unethical approach to selling (promoting off label, etc.) will make you want to disassociate yourself very quickly!
