GE STINKS!

Congratulations, from your ruler, Boss Immelt, Obama's jobs czar!

Today's Milwaukee Journal reports that GE Healthcare will lay off 2% of its Wisconsin workforce (over 6500 people employed). No doubt, the ax catching contest will be duplicated in the other 56 states of Dear Leader Obama's fiefdom.

I truly hope I'am next, I really hate this place...

Again, a reminder to those who think they should work for this criminal enterprise ... STAY AWAY!

Oh, and enjoy that electric death trap car that Immelt is buying for you from Obama Motors! They will have a special option -- a satellite radio that only carries MSNBC.

Nothing like listening to that nut Chris Matthews to make your drive relaxing.

I was thinking about applying for the X-Ray sales job. But after reading all of this, I guess I won't. I currently make $180k, but it is a large territory. Thought if I could make the same in a smaller territory, that would be great.

Re: GE STINKS- NOT

Basing whether or not you interview for a job on these posts? Well played sir.

Your an idiot and I hope to compete against you someday.

You sound like a typical arrogant GE rep. I would know because I compete against GE on a daily basis and the reps continue to amaze me. You guys are rigid, you make things difficult for your customers, and everyone makes fun of you in your navy or dark grey suits trying to look like politicians. Every time I see a GE rep they are with a minimum of 2 other suits. Customers are expressing their dislike of the GE setup where they don't feel like they have a central point of contact and are constantly bombarded by multiple people calling on them. You have SOME (not all) pretty good products but your culture is killing you. Personally I hope the culture never changes because it just makes my life easier. No one is afraid to compete against you - all we need to do is stay out of your way and watch you and your own company compete against yourselves and complicate things so much that you lose the deal.

Worked for GE for over 10 years. The post above pretty much sums it up. GE is so "process-driven" that it is extremely complicated and irritating to do business with them. So so glad to be out and to be working for a company that is not its own worst enemy!!!

No. I had just had enough of the workflows, EMS, multiple web-exes, My Learning training (relating to nothing I actually did in the field), regurgitating goals into the system that were handed down from your P&L management prior to EMS and the constant feeling of frustration. Frustration due to the fact that as a GE employee you were never free to tend to your business and service your customers without jumping through multiple hoops w/in GE first. They have made the business WAY more complicated than it needs to be.

Just a hellhole of a company. There are just too many hands on everything you do. You can't just go out and do your job.

I've been in sales for over 10 years & the one thing that all my managers from all of my companies have had in common is that they can't sell shit. You can spot a salesperson a mile away. Affable, hard working, plays hard, never met a stranger, goes the extra mile for customers, very protective of his/territory and customers, loves to compete, builds lasting relationships with customers & staff alike, always trying to make more $$$.The managers I've had value almost NONE of those qualities. They are always concerned with the process of how you get there. It never matters how well you are able to move through an account or get things done. They only care about your notes, activity, & spreadsheets. They have almost all been introverts so they don't get any of the savvy of sales. They can never understand how you just can't get your expenses done on time. (Because we are SELLING). This is the problem with almost all rep/manager relationships. Reps grab the briefcase & head out to see customers. Managers get up & head to the computer & wonder why we are not answering emails. So, I've come to the conclusion that it's not necessarily the 'culture' of the company that is the problem. It is the 'culture' of introvert report pushers trying to reign in high driving extroverts. & it is almost a fire & gasoline relationship. & GE is replete with them!
