A friend of mine in Georgia just got the call on Friday that they are being investigated by Global Security. What does this mean exactly? Does anyone have any advice for him or know of anyone who has gone through this before?
 




Several people have been sent to global recently for under-reporting or lack of reporting of personal mileage. Just a thought.

Don't know what advice to give other than be honest. Don't try to cover up a simple mistake. If there was falsification, why bother flying up there?

Nonsense. Your friend has nothing to worry about. Global Security is just a bunch of guys trying to make sure that your flights have no terrorists aboard, so you can travel safely. They will help your friend identify possible suspects at the airports and things like that. It's just how to stay safe while doing Abbott business.

HAHAHAHAHA...safety first..mental sanity later...the Abbott way..kill passengers later in the dungeon of Gestapo Security.hey they have a job too.doesnt help the bottom line which pays them...if they kill off enough, who will support them...the GS people have no resources unless we are out there selling????

this is such horseshit....#1 We do not have a budget for lunches, so suddenly there is cash to fly reps to AP for a grillin? Hardly. If there is strong evidence - read bulletproof - then you will be canned. Done. A flight, a hotel, meals, just to ask you questions in Chicago is just not going to happen.

#2 GS has a backlog of cases - and they are prioritized by the jeopardy they place the company in. So, severe cases of theft are dealt with - not stealing 3 gallons of gas or shit personal miles. They are looking at folks falsifying POs for stents, creating false accounts for device sales, ghost sales for nutritional sales....and of course, everyones favorite, why did you crash your car....

Do your work and do what is right.
 


I heard that 20 or more have been sent due to changing the clock on the computer. If that's the case then there will be even more. fired on the spot. why bother even going to the dungeon if that is automatic termination? Seems like A waste of company lunch money. Just call them and tell them they are terminated.
 


A friend of mine said he refused to go to GS due to the fact that it was a lose lose scenario and didn't need the additional stress. They can't force you to go but you will be immediately terminated. Once tey find one thing that seems unscrupulous, they dig further and further until they have many areas of non-compliance. Either way you lose. Someone said they knew two people who survived. I haven't heard of any.

No one is truly safe. Global has many ways to terminate and increase te bottom line. Afterall, like cops, they have a quota to meet. Anyone can rat you out on something, could even be fabricated, if they don't like you. Then Global starts investigating. Time to find an honest job where you are not forced to lie. Who monitors Global?
 




Reps do not have access to enough corporate resources to steal to justify bringing them in...termination would happen.

Too many at Abbott Park putting a little in the bank for consultant access - Certriad backpacks - ect. Oh yeah, those "freebies" that are running around marketing - I am sure those do not influence your decision on which promotional or ad grp to hire....

It is not a waste of lunch money. This all comes from a different budget, so it can't be transferred anyway. It is actually a thoughtful thing for the company to do because it gives us all the chance to get a few more airline miles in. Fly back, stay at a nice hotel, have a great dinner, and go tell the truth to whomever is asking. Fly home and go back to work. What's the issue? Do your job. How hard it that?
 


Just talked to an ex-Abbott 2008 AllStar rep who just got let go after a lovely trip to the basement at Abbott Park.

Her crimes?
1. She had included attendees on her lunch list that were on a prepopulated list of lunch attendees. GS called the office and one particular staffer was sick on that day. So that was considered falsification.

2. She rounded her personal miles to the nearest 25, 50 or 100 miles. They told her this was falsification because mileage needs to be tracked daily and rarely ends on 25, 50 or 100.

GONE!!

She's happy in her new postion with another company. No micromanaging. Sometimes a curse is your greatest joy.
