Is Zyzal more effective than Zyrtec?

I have been on xyzal for 6 weeks now and find that it's good for about 1/2 day. I also experience continuous post nasal drip throughout the day I didn't experience with Zertec. I find xyzal is great for the first five hours and then after that my symptoms reappear.

Just got my Zyrtec OTC, $5 coupon also helped. How xyzal will perform now is beyond me.

Xyzal will perform like a 250 Million dollar product. When UCB determines the actual number of reps required to support a 250 million dollar product and can hit the required call numbers, Xyzal will be field supported like a 250 Million Dollar product.

If UCB was receiving 100% of that 250 million, the answer would be, at the most, 250 reps. If something big doesn't happen with RPU, I can see a Xyzal salesforce of 100 reps. (40%x250mil=100mil) That's assuming Xyzal makes it to 250 million. I really hope it does, but I don't know.

Does anyone know how large of sales force was in place in the early Zyrtec years?

Keppra will be down, supporting Cimzia has to be a significant drain on resources, Things are going to get rocky if Xyzal doesn't do well.

Obviously, UCB needs cash. Why else would they offer the stock package other than to raise additional cash. Notice that it wasn't offered until cash got lean.

Why does your claim contradict all the studies and the well over 2 billion patient-scripts data for the past 6 years?? ummm?? Could you be lying?? I thought so.

This site cracks me up! Seriously, you all are very uninformed. UCB is about to go through a fairly large hiring trend....... we will be adding a couple of new Regions and many new districts. If you knew what was going in with our pipeline/corporate office, you would understand why we will be needing more bodies not less. I am sure that you will slam me because I sound positive but truth is I know what I am talking about. Period. So go on and whine and look for spooks but all is well with UCB. The reps. that follow along with the game plan will benefit greatly! There is much more at stake here than just XYZAL. Try to think outside the box, look deeper into our research and development....... the company is just biding time...... giving us all something to focus on until the real fun begins. Patience.

Hello All,

My sister was just released from the hospital today for fainting spells that they say are a result of her being on xyzal or zyzal or however it is spelled. She lost consciousness 12 times in the span of time in which she was on the med. Please advise people you know who might be on it to be careful. These losses of consciousness came without warning. Thank God she was not behind the wheel at any of those times.

I doubt the LOC is due to Xyzal. Are you sure it is not due to a heart rhythm problem, dehydration, TIA, seizure, MI, etc. Xyzal is an AWESOME antihistamine and DOES have less sedation than Zyrtec based on clinical studies. You have to remember each individual patient responds to a medication differently. Maybe we should stop giving pain medications to patients for they make patients "feel good". Do not fall for the above posts. The only reason Xyzal is being attacked is because IT WORKS. I would love to see the above posters relatives hospital chart. I bet is does not mention Xyzal as the diagnosis. Shenanigans. The US also hates the fact that gas prices are high but do not attack a specific gas company like Exxon/Mobil or Valero or Citgo, or Fast Trac, or Hess, or etc. You get my point. The best is ALWAYS ATTACKED.

Lysol ain't shite, I'll put up benadryl against any of you cats. It still the most potent allergy drug out there.

If you can't run with da big dogs, then stay on the porch mang.

Mybe because Americans react differently to drugs than Europeans. Xyzal was approved in Europe in 2001 and was taken by millions and nothing like your lies was ever reported. You tried to misspell "Xyzal" so the reader can give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not for the industry. If your imaginary sister was hospitalised because of Xyzal you would have remembered the spelling. And lastly it would have been reported by the prescriber even he thinks the lost of consciousness was not related to the drug itself. Try again.

Don't know about a comparison with Zyrtec, but do know that I experienced a high pulse rate this morning after taking just 1/2 dose last night. It's good for seniors to keep in mind that this drug has not been tested on those over 65, many of whom are more sensitive to medications. Suspect that I had a reaction similar to one I had on Compazine, where instead of acting as a sedative, it put me in high gear. That's the end of Zyzal for me.

How high was your pulse rate? It is normal to have a higher pulse rate in the morning upon wakening. What was your pulse rate 3 hours after taking Xyzal? As you stated in your own words- you "suspect...." Leave that to your doctor. And what is the comparison of Compazine to Xyzal. Once again, the best is always attacked.

So 8 hours after you took the dose you had a high pulse rate? Maybe it was the crack you smoked for breakfast.
Ask your allergist if they think xyzal works better. It clearly does for some and clearly is less sedating.
