Kenvue results suck

Results suck this morning …. Discuss
We all got double-dinged. My manager said that the individual performance ratings bell-curve was moved down with “inconsistent” needing to be the majority of the bellcurve since Kenvue itself rated as inconsistent. Someone said Kenvue is emotional gaslighting your individual performance and that description is dead-on. You could’ve worked your ass off and done everything right within what you can control and you’re still automatically forced to a lower bellcurve based on company performance. Then you get whacked again with the company multiplier. It’s really demoralizing. But hey - let’s spend the money on summit and shuttles and relocation and making sure everyone’s work life balance suffers by forcing them into an office no where near their existing one.

What do you mean? Did they change your rating from strong to inconsistent post full year result?

As described to me, the bell curve was shifted down prior to the review process.

Curve described to me wasn't anywhere close to "inconsistent" in the majority but idk it might vary between groups. Anyway, the the rating process isn't actually an objective measure of your performance, it's a comparison against your peers. A leader of a universally strong team still needs to pick a few people to screw. The screwing quota was increased this year due to poor company performance.

They knew at calibration that Kenvue was going to rate at inconsistent so they told people leaders that the majority of their bellcurve for their people also had to be at inconsistent.
This is so stupid. We should not adjust individual performance to a curve. Just adjust the bonus pool accordingly. So, a high performer gets positive feedback and then can have a better context to accept that the bonus pool is low because of company performance. It feels better being told “you’re getting the bests bonus possible which is still shit” than to be gaslighted on performance. What the hell is in the minds of the people who designed this performance system? It’s become a huge demotivater for workforce. Individual performance should always be an absolute against individual objectives. Bonus is always going to be relative and competitive against the size of the bonus pool which is a result of company performance. Oh Kenvue, we just can’t get out of our own way.

100% agreed. I also worry that artificially deflated ratings will hurt opportunities for mobility within the company.

It was such an opportunity to make this company better, but it’s lost it’s way… Too many clueless leaders milking the cow, and trying to find others to do the job they don’t have the skills for… All talk, no walk, very few with experience, or leadership skills, and they have practically zero trust. Not a proud Kenvuer here, it’s an embarrassment.

It’s so true - so many poor decisions but no accountability- even the comms around the multiplier is so generic . They clearly don’t know how to turn this around and feels already like it’s getting worse with no light at the end of the tunnel!

The “light at the end of the tunnel” is C-suite changes driven by pressure from shareholders. It’s got to come. Investors will soon tire of the only “results” story being slashed operating costs. Q1 investor call will be very telling.
