Okay alot of us here are looking for a new job. Pharma is not my first choice, but I have 26 years devoted to this industry, so best to probably utilize my experience and look in that direction, while I hold my nose!
At any rate, I have stayed away from MedReps.com because I think it is a rip-off and crap. I say that because I joined it over a year ago and it looked to me that it was probably mostly recruiters fishing for resumes. So is there anyone here who has paid medReps to join and actually gotten any response or even an interview?
There are so few jobs out there, so I am moving forward and hope for the best and good luck to the ones who are really going to use this as a learning experience. Life is Great!

Seriously? I mean Seriously? Medreps is great!!!!!!! There are tons of jobs with the recruiters direct email attached. If you are sending resumes out and not getting any responses, I would really think about blaming yourself instead of them. If you have 26 years in sales and can't even get interviews, that should really tell you something about you, not medreps.

So, poster #2, if MedReps is so great, why haven't you found a job on it. Two years ago I decided to get out of the sinking ship that was SP and joined. After 6 months, I got not one response. I had been w/ SP for 3 years, won president's club and launched Levitra to be the #1 rep in the region. So it wasn't my resume. I found my great new job on indeed.com, and it is free. OP, don't give up!

I agree with the OP. MedReps is terrible. I know a lot of people that have used it in the past and have not heard anything from any company then went to company websites and received an interview. There are good recruiting opportunities on there through recruiters emails but that is about it. Don't expect to just send a resume and get an interview. It won't happen. Don't waste the money.

When the job market is bad, it seems like a ripoff. When the market is good, its seems like a good investment.

Does that make sense?

Hey OP here, I am asking a question about MedReps, look what I wrote, I never said I sent a reply to any of the listings, it just seemed impossible that there are that many openings. So just to set the record straight, yes I did join MedReps in 2008, and never did send my resume to any of the listings, because at my age I have a pretty good eye to recognize when something is BS. That is what I think MedReps is.....BS! I just wanted to ask if others thought the same or was my BS indicator not working properly!

I'm one of the under peformers that was laid off last september. Well before the lay off I was a member. Medreps sucks. so does healthcarereps.com The only place I got responses was on indeed.com Plus you don't have to pay.

Another thing, since last year they doubled their rates.

In my geography, they have constantly RE-listed the same 4 jobs with through a single recruiter, which I cannot verfiy through ANY detective work, so that I might contact the recruiter directly.

They got my money once but not again!

Here's a thought. Go to medreps.com and do a search for jobs for your desired geography. You can search for free, you just can't look at the job details or apply for the job without the subscription.

Now weed out all of the jobs located in "Anytown, USA","Anytown East of the Mississippi", and "Anytown Near a Major Airport". Try to find the few jobs that are actually listed for your town and now look at what kinds of clients you'll be calling on. That should give you a good feel for what kind of job you'd be applying for.

If you don't see anything, just repeat the process a few times over the next few weeks and that should tell you if it's worth the investment or not.

I too thought about joining that site Med Reps, but just a little uneasy with the hundreds of pharma postings here in my area. I agree with the OP, that it would not surprise me that the listings are from recruiters just looking for resumes with no real actual current opening.
For some reason, I recall hearing that it is unlawful for an opening to be advertised when in fact there is no opening. Maybe this just applies to employers and recruiters are free to play like the wild wild west. I would suggest that you skip the temptation to join Med Reps because it doesn't pass the smell test to me!

I got laid off this past January and began my search on MedReps two weeks later. I had several calls and interviews. My search is over and I landed one of the jobs (just found out). I think it depends where you live, but I know there were plenty of opportunities in my city on MedReps. Perhaps beef up your resume? Change it around a bit? Don't know. I was lucky, I guess.

You are correct.

Medreps.com got me a great job outside of Pharma and a good friend of mine did also.

I think it is like $30 for the year, which isn't too bad.

Nice try on the cost. Here is the new pricing.

$29.95 Three (3) Month Membership
$52.95 Six (6) Month Membership
$19.95 + $8.49/mo Annual Membership

I guess they decided to since alot of folks are unemployed and looking to make a career change that they can rip people off now with their pricing.
