On astellas managers


Well said! To the managers who have gone CRAZY - Did you ever stop to think about how YOU would feel being managed by a manager like yourself??? Would you be able to tolerate being on the other side of what you are dishing out? Think about it! Remember, you REAP what you SOW!

This is very true. I have had two managers in the past who abused power. One who slept with his reps (he was a Regional) and one that was abusive. Both were eventually fired from my old company. You do reap what you sow. Hope that is true at Astellas.
 

I just read though these blogs and am appalled at the lack of intelligence
and/or constructive criticism leveled at management. Why not post ideas for improvement
without the hostilities? Most people who give a rip usually try to make improvements.
Are your attitudes the result of you feeling entitled? The rest of us had to work for
improvements in working environments.

I have worked for real managers at other companies, people of integrity, character and wit and humor.

Astellas is run by crooks.

Do you honestly think they would listen??? I guess you are not aware that the 360 feedback on managers was nixed b.c. it was used as a form of retaliation against representatives trying to make positive changes. Not all reps are trying to bash managers, some wanted positive and productive change for the company.

At this point, HR doesn't listen and the company certainly doesn't care about reps, so why waste anymore time trying to create a positive change with ideas with no one will listen. They just don't care about the little guy and if you don't like criticism, it may be best for you to stay off Cafe Pharma. As a whole, it is not a positive site...but one of the LAST forums for reps to vent honestly about all the frustration they are holding inside.

Perhaps you ought to invest in a good psychiatrist, an MD who can provide
drugs to level out your cycling brain chemistry. A positive step forward this
would be. if everyone went forth to be civil and respectful, things might be
more amenable. To show love for each other, to show respect to a manager,
less drinking, more constructive thinking may be of help. All those little fingers playing
the blame game need a rest. If one is unhappy then one ought to make changes
which will or rather might resolve your state of unhappiness.

or with the company is responsible for how you FEEL. This is a work environment
and it is designed to produce and sell products.

You are posting at 2:30 a.m. and you are talking about brain chemistry??? Hum? Sounds like you are the one that needs a psychiatrist. No one stable would post this dribble at 2:30 a.m. Maybe you should stop that rapid cycling and muttering with some good mood stablizers yourself.

BUT it is unfair for you to dismiss the comments that are written here. If you have not experienced what is being described here, then you are very fortunate. It does not, however, give you the right to discredit or dismiss the comments of others. This is not the place you should be logging in. You should go and find some other site to look for wisdom. The fact that you are so quick to criticize others opinions suggests that you have no clue about this - you obviously don't have any compassion either.
Believe me, MANY of us have attempted to make/suggest positive changes. BUT, it's the very thing that made us the target of harrassment and retaliation. If you don't believe me, give it a try. Here's what will happen:

1. Try giving management some honest feedback
2. Your manager won't like it
3. Your manager will give you bad evaluations
4. You will report this to HR (this is the "nail" in your coffin)
5. Somehow you will end up on an Action Plan -whether it's justified or not
6. You will be fired upon the conclusion of the Action Plan if you don't quit first!

Trust me- There are MANY others on this site who can validate this!!!

I heard from a reliable source that the S.East Sales Director held up a noose in a sales meeting to describe what should be done to some of the sales reps? Does anyone know the
"skinny" on that one? How does HR explain that one - by "coaching" the person? Is that person "clueless" to the connotation that a noose represents to persons of color???
Hello HR! - Why aren't you enforcing the "so called" antidiscrimination policy?
Unbelievable that this would take place and that the individual is STILL EMPLOYED!! But let a rep speak up about something valuable, disagree with a manager, and suddenlly BAD things happen (paper trail begins, bad performance evals, and Action Plans!!) Astellas- this is disgusting! It isn't any wonder that some unfortunate things are occuring for the company (FDA Warning Letter; consolidation of Derm and Uro etc...)
Hey Astellas, didn't you ever think the things that you have allowed bad managers to get away with would ever catch up with the company? Think about that!
It's people like that who make what once was a respectable industry, like Used Car Selling!!
 
You are very correct but I would add that this corrupt HR department doesn't need a paper trail; they will completely fabricate one from thin air and post date everything. They are complete utterly corrupt crooks.

Crooks I say because they are breaking crimminal codes.

astellas is a company run by complete filth.

So keep talking to lawyers and making complaints to the FDA. The company will move to remove some of these clowns when the heat comes from the legal communitty and FDA. The company already has removed a VP and senior clown director recently because of FDA investigations.


And ya know, the few competent managers left, I grant ya there aren't many, also want the corrupt non compliant managers ousted. No one with character wants to think that they went to college and worked hard all their life to just to end up with working with incompetent crooks.

Is it lack of intelligence BECAUSE you consider it not to be constructive criticism? READ and understand. There is no forum for reps to seek improvements for the huge disparities in the Astellas work environment. No forum, unfit managers, poor forecasting of goals, and no bonus as a result, all can cause hostility. No one says the manager's job is easy. However, it should be held by a person who the region can respect. As in all situations, managers don't come from a cookie cutter, ergo, none are of the same ilk. Still, it should be a given that the appointed leader of reps, both rookies and veterans, should be expected to provide TRUE leadership, not simply repeating the words of upper management, or using our words against us. If this isn't true of you, great. You must have a cohesive team who rocks!! If not, take it to heart. Are YOU the manager you would want as a sales rep? That is the true test.

I can confirm that this is SOP for astellas.
 
It is one thing to manage, it is truly another to inspire, lead and motivate people! In over ten years of pharma, I have only had 2 that were the later.

If you are an Astellas manager, I know you are under pressure, but push yourself to be a motivator and inspire your teams. Put yourself in your reps shoes and treat others and you would want to be treated. Someday you will not be with Astellas, or a manager and what legacy do you want to leave. Do you want people to remember you as a person of integrity or an abuser who was on a power trip and hurt people to get to the top?
 
Well stated! And good advice. Now if you could somehow write this same info on Astellas's Twitter account so that those who need to read it, will! Does Astellas have a Facebook page?
