Got PIP. Expectations unrealistic. Anyone else get one.
People on pip who do not meet goals will be fired. They have already fired people with no fairness as not rolled out nationally. You current pip ers are late to the party. No excuses, just meet the demands or you are toast. And they wonder why people are leaving in droves. What's the turnover rate Suzie??
Here is some advice if you are on a PIP !! (From one who was on one, and now am a former emplooyee that got 2 weeks of vaca pay as my severence.
1) leave asap ! Find another job !
2) if u wanna stay or have trouble finding a job, FIGHT ! Make sure u have complied diligently to achieve the unrealistic goals u have been tasked with AND make your concerns about their validity known to HR, your DM, your RM.
3) see #2 ). Dont give in to being bullied. HR will look to support mgmts case ! The more VALID noise you make, the more resistance HR will create for the mgmt that wants to fire u. MAKE them explain how metrics can be met ! - every detail !!! Explain the flaws in KPI metrics in EXTREME detail. HR doesnt understand them - hell, Im not sure in my issue if the DM or RM even understood them. And C2 likes to create PIP goals so they are not readily interpreted by what we as reps have access to.
4). Keep in mind, in my case, this was a layoff without severnce ! My territory and another have been realigned into two other remaining territories.
5) HR is not on your side. Be the squeaky wheel. If you are on a PIP (and maybe even a PEP), the line in the sand has been drawn. The goals they set for you may or may not be mathmatically possible to achieve. You will be FIRED if you do not hit ALL of them ! The target is on you and the guns are being loaded. Do not be lulled into a false sense of security because u are achieving most of the goals. This is an all or nothing fight. And in my case, fairness and reality were completely disregarded.
- do not be lulled into false sense of security
If u are being left alone or r even getting good FCRs on ride withs !
6) get an atty if u really want to fight - if u get fired and their logic is faulty you will likely obtain some type of settlement. The more noise u create for - the more likely they will be to leave u alone.
7) record every interaction u have with any member of mgmt and HR! Buy a recorder if u have to but u shld have phone app to capture.
In most states, only one person in a conversation has to be aware the conversation is being recorded. Even if inadmissble in court, it can help u recall exactly what was said.
Now onto if u do get canned :
Me - I was too tired to fight from years of mental abuse at purdue and gladly took my dismissal as a sign it was literally time for me to move on. I have not sued and doubtful I will. Too much negative energy for me to deal with and I belive God has something better for me in store !
BUT - some have. And the harder u make it for them, the more $ u may get. I know some who have kept the car, computer, etc.... as leverage. give it back to them when ur atty advises u !
But in everything just remember that Purdue C2 DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU in any fashion or form. And if u get fired, This is even
moreso. Fired by phone, email contact from then on. Noone returned calls regarding COBRA, car, pension.....you are a non person to Purdue at this point. And you now deal with complete incompetence to get things ( like COBRA) to actually pay for ins claims if u have them. Dont expect anything Purdue says will happen automatically (such as COBRA) kicking in without at least 3 phone calls to benefits concepts and Cigna who always report its an issue with Purdue !!! ??? !!! And Purdue isnt one bit interested in helping u in any way !
I am at peace with how i handled my termination. I hope you are are or may be if you face the crap I did. The once great company is gone. Im glad I am moving on as well ! I was really tired of the shit show ! I have no
Bitterness in my heart towards Purdue. But I reflect back on how it has changed over the last decade and can truly say, I am happy to be gone ! Even as I am currently enemployed and looking, I am glad to be gone.
I do have some disdain, however, for the DM ((DMs actually) and the RM that set this in motion. But I have no ill will towards them. I believe in Karma, and she can be a reall biotch at the most unsuspecting times.
Know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free !!
I can definitely relate to what you went through. I was fired in January for a seriously bogus and lame reason. I mean it was so petty and all it took was a little corrective action. After 6+ years with Purdue I never thought it would become so vicious. I outperformed my partner in every way the previous year. The partner was new however and had only been around for a little over a year. As a Butrans lead I still got more Hysingla prescriptions than my partner weekly. I had a higher percent to quota for Hysingla and was one of the top 3 in the district for Butrans as well. But I was laid off for a really bogus stupid reason. They really had to dig deep to find what they found and it was not even a serious matter. Here is some advice if you are on a PIP !! My pip is about to end in 2 weeks. Anyone know how they end your employment? Will it be better to resign or be fired? Can I make a case for a layoff/severance? Should I contact a lawyer before I leave? I put together all the dirt I have on fellow reps and manager. Not enough for a whistleblower case but enough to make PP nervous. I have a few things in the works but nothing today.

Thanks and good luck. Is there any advantage to quitting before getting fired? A few of the applications asked "have you ever been terminated/fired". Not sure what other than you being employed PP would tell another company.
One of the reps fired on my team landed another pharma job so must be okay. Legally they cannot say more than just dates of service and maybe pay, but I wouldn't trust these people to be legal. Thanks and good luck. Is there any advantage to quitting before getting fired? Why are people being fired when others who are doing worse being retained? Is the Midwest region the worst?PIPs are being used solely to instill fear in a few reps per region ( actually more than a few ). From what I can tell performance is being used as the threat but many reps that are ranked far lower are being spared if they have kissed enough ass. So pucker up or move on out...this place has reached new lows...and thats hard to do around here.
