Prague

This whole Prague thing is unfortunate.

Over the last few months, Merck has been knocking out some top talent in offices in Europe and North America as they want people to collaborate in the innovation centres.

Next week, Canada and European countries will be cutting at least half of their IT staff if not all.

If there is any consolation, at least the folks let go get a chance to jump off the sinking ship quicker!

Best of luck to all!

The brooms have come out...so many really good people let go while there are slackers still left, especially from certain groups that I guess had more clout and whose leaders said No to all this lama drama.

The broom hit brussels at first, 42 fellow IT collegues have to leave.
the other countries still waiting for the things to come.
There are rumours around that GB will be announced next week...

Folks in Oss have already been told that they can keep their jobs.... in Prague. So they're all fired. Works Council meeting is supposed to happen soon. We're budgeting assuming that we won't be paying their salaries...

Forget the lawsuit garbage...

Both the CIO and CTO confirmed that even though it looks like the company is doing well, it now needs money yo market the new pipeline (how does that male any sense? It was never the case before)

Therefore due to a very poor structured and executed business model,IT will suffer and lose tons of jobs surely by late this year or early next year. There is already a project team working on this.

The US will get the worst hit and the hubs will be getting the good out of this.

Folks raising their hand will most likely be accepted and replaced with people in Prague.

Folks being let go will be replaced with people in Prague.

Get the jist? Yea, it's going that way...

Everyone chill out - if not here, someplace else.

People are getting tired of the motions and are leaving anyways. They will be stuck with leftovers when all is said and done.

There will be very few leftovers. Even senior positions are being stood up in Prague. Branchburg will be a ghost town eventually. Too much $ and too little respect/appreciation from senior management. They will move the bulk of positions to prague, which will stumble for a year or two until they are able to accepte the work and build the skills required to run things. Once that happens prague and Singapore will be the key hubs with Branchburg containing the execs and their peeps who make pretty pictures.

Actually, I support the move to Prague, but if you are going to cut the U.S. Do it without considering who you like and thinks like you vs being objective

I support the move to Prague too. I mean if you're going to have a ruderless POS of an IT shop whose sole function is to keep the lights on albeit flickering a bit, you may as well do it in a cheap place like Prague and in the process jettison the high priced faithful who kept the ship afloat. After all, its all about the short term and keeping costs down and stockholders happy. I never imagined this was what was meant by the "accelerate" phase of the SP acquisition. America's most admired sure has sunk to new lows. So glad to have left this fine company on my own terms.
