Seriously...

Why would you share that type of information here? Not everybody Flew in met with the Head, down to 14. My RBD has been in the industry for years, so you are on the east coast. I got a sign on which was only given to about 15. They know who you are. You really are stupid! Keep your luck, you are going to need it. You were in.

Um, duh, this poster is posting this shit on here because they are full of RAT SHIT and trying to stir your pot!. I am a current RBD and their were NO, ZERO, NADA, sign on bonuses to anyone, not even senior leadership.

There is no 6 fig. bases either, we didn't need to pay that, the amount of unemployed reps was enormous and this is not a company culture or a company that has the balance sheet and burn rate to pay that when we can get what we need for this soft launch and short termed territory jobs for 1/3 of the competitive cost. People are desperate for work and any pharma with the struggles that Savient lives under are cognizant of this. Why pay 90K for someone when you can get the same thing for 75K? Simple math, to the poster who comes on here and tries to make this out to be something it is not, get a LIFE!

Newsflash: And the stock grants are restricted and will most likely carry no value, unless their is a MAJOR BUYOUT, which everyone know's is highly unlikely with the track record of not getting this done in October with finding a partner and facilitating the buyout that was wanted by the Savient board. The chances of a suitor/buyer coming in now as the white knight and paying above the current market price are 1 in a bazillion, so forget about stock incentives.....

I read this the other day and thought it was the best perspective I've ever read on our industry.

"The problem is that the industry started paying way too much for the skills of pharma reps in the late 80's/early 90's, and an entire generation of folks got accustomed to bloated salaries. Face it, there is no other industry in the country where reps with low end bachelor degrees can routinely surpass 100K without any shred of a specialized skill set. In most cases, folks would be jumping ship left and right if faced with FIVE YEARS of uncertainty, but pharma folks know there is no place to go that offers the same pay opportunities. As a result, this board is ripe with bitter and unrealistic people who have a distorted perception of what they're worth. You all want 100K+, but fail to realize that you have absolutely ZERO effect on physicians and their prescribing habits. It all comes down to CMS and HMO formulary decisions and we all know that we can cut 80% of the existing sales force to accomplish the same outcomes.

Ill stop short of lambasting the entire industry and calling all reps a bunch a worthless idiots like some do (some of the best and most talented people I know are pharma reps), but its time to face the facts. Get out now and get retrained/re-educated rather than wait for the inevitable to happen."

Ditto! We share the same thoughts. True from top to bottom.

Wow I think the only douche bag is the one that can't stop spewing hate out of their mouth. Nothing is solid anymore in this industry. You probably will be shooting yourself in the foot when you get laid off in 6 months and were wishing you had pursued this.

Legitimate offer!!! Contacted by Leaders and Manager. Start date end of January.

IN 6 months there will be no Savient!!!! You seem to have it backwards.

What makes you think that this band aid Savient sales force will be around in 6 months time? That sounds like a very unlikely prospect. You need to do some research, and not kool aid mongering crap about this being some elite product and sf. This is a crap shoot, smart money and the people who matter, the investor community are calling this to come up 'snake eyes".... the "legitimate" data is simply that Savient is in over their heads, had to find a partner to launch this product- failed to do so- and now are left with no sales experience, launch experience, FUNDING, and behind the curtains are still trying like maniacs to find someone, anyone, anything to bail them out of the financial drain that will exist for cost, marketing, sales overhead, private insurance rebates, manufacturing (which already set them back 10mm on the blunder from the supplier last week), bloated salaries of senior leadership etc...... you need to shake those cobwebs from in between your ears. There is no future for a Savient based salesforce with this orphan disease product within the current cost strategies and scenarios. Out priced itself, garnered no support from the big houses and players in this bucket, and are hiring temporary rent a reps for a 3 month stint. This is obvious to anyone "we" who have been in this game for more than a few rodeo's. The need for private capital is real, the need for a partner and buyer is something that the board and senior mgmt. team is burning the midnight oil on, and trust me the stability or well being of any of the "new" reps brought on during this transition is the LAST priority to this company....wise up and grow up!

thank you for the voice of logic and reason. it is amazing what happens to reps who at one time may have been savvy and not so naive once they lose their job and edge, they will believe anything. SAv. is just another of the thousand of small biopharma's trying to hit it big with a failure rate that far exceeds success. Without managed care contracts and Medicare contracts already negotiated and coded, all your hard work with begging the RHu to try this product will be Denied by the third party payers. I hope you all understand that going in, you will be very unsatisfied and full of regret if you do not understand the managed care problems that exist with this product. Do yourself a favor and go talk to a trusted Rhu who you all should have on speed dial by now if you have any exper. in this market place! Listen carefully to what they tell you!

You didnt get an interview either? Sorry to hear that!

So here is a challenge to any of the prior posters that might self-identify as 'anti-Savient opportunity':
Please explain to me any type of scenario where you would be approached by someone about a job or perhaps actively seek out additional information yourself, determine that it is not right for you for whatever reason, and then feel compelled to devote the previously demonstrated level of time and effort to describing all of your issues with said job and company on this freaking forum. Call me crazy, but I just can't see anyone who voluntarily passed on Savient spending the effort to 'warn others'. I'm not saying it isn't possible, in fact I personally couldn't imagine spending the time and effort even if I was passed over and felt slighted and insulted (as I suspect in the case here for most of you).
Anyway if you are out there and you can really look yourself in the mirror and say you're not coming to Savient because it was your call not too, and you feel the need to blast away on here I am dying to here from you. Enlighten me
