This is a very difficult environment to work in and the turnover rate in 2010 was greater than 50%. I have been in sales for many years and I have never seen a sales force stressed out and unhappy like they are here. If I would have known the reality of the quality of life here I wouldn't have joined this sales force. That's not to say that some people do like working here because I'm sure some do. When you talk to some of the most successful reps they talk about how they miss out on the rest of their life, their childrens lives, because all they do is work because that's what is required to make it here. Sales results are valued more than your family, your personal time outside of normal business hours and your quality of life is never considered. I think most reps here would agree with what I'm saying here. I also think they would agree that they would love their job here if the goals would decrease to a normal level and work life balance could be restored. At the last meeting a presidents club winner was thanking her manager for all of her support and she referenced the 2am phone calls they have to get prepared for appointments. This is a primary example of the culture here and the lack of work life balance.

I hope so much that Joe Willis can make some changes here so employees will be happier and will stick around longer. We need change or people will continue to come and go.

You would get FIRED for going to HR.....she turns around and runs to the manager to gossip about what you just expressed concern over. There is no protection here, no liaison for resolution. Basically, suck it up and deal with the flagrant violations by the managers.....of course I only have dealt w/ one imparticular, west coast. Worst joke ever. She is horrible.
 


Ha! This place is completely out of sorts! Wait til next week! OMG! It's not just the end of the month but it's the end of the quarter!! OMG!! What are we gonna do?!!! OMG!!! How long will my stupid manager keep me on the phone!! OMG!!!! I wish she would stop calling me!!! OMG!!!! I don't care if you need another $20K!!! I sold as much as this shit as they would take!!!!! Leave me alone!!!! OMG!!!!!!!! How the #*$% can anyone take this rediculous product line seriously? What an amazing contribution to society!
 


If you hate it so much - find another job ?!?! The position is not that hard to figure out, its just like any other sales position, or product that you would sell. If you're having trouble - try and figure out what works - or talk to other SC's that can help you....bc there are plenty that will! Find something you're passionate about, and if its not skincare...or Skinmedica for that matter - there are PLENTY of other jobs out there that you can take. Why all of the negativity? I guess everyone has a different job/company experience - but certainly if you currently HAVE a position with this company - and even if this site IS anonymous.....have a little pride in yourself as a professional, and the job that you have. I'm not on a high horse, but seriously.

OMG! You have the same manager I "had".....end of month/quarter was ridiculous. She would call between 4 to 6 times on the last day and keep me@ least 20 minutes each call. One time it lasted up to an hour, I told her" how do you expect me to hit my number if I am on the phone w/ you" while sitting outside of my next account for half hour listening to her drone on and on with all of her success stories she shared to achieve her fame in the mid-west. Ugh. Def mid-west transplant w/ no life. Go get married already so you can stop stalking your team. Oh no, wait, that would interfere in your meetings w/ HR to decide who to fire, bully, micromanage etc.
 


If you work here and you are not married, you never will be as long as you are working here. If you are married and working here you either hate your life with your spouse and kids and they hate being around you too, or you will be divorced within a year of working here. And then, you are free game for the pigs in the home office! Or I guess the other obvious thing would be none of the above are true but you just can't find another job with a real pharma company selling real medicine because you have done something in your past that has forced you to take a step back into selling snake oil! It has to be something! It certainly isn't the desire for wealth or prestige because SM offers neither! Wake up!

How do any of you sleep at night selling a lotion for almost $300/bottle? It does absolutely nothing but piss off the ususpecting consumer like me! I will never by this crap again and I and all of my friends will never use the office that sold this crap to me! Thanks for nothing!

$260 per ounce. Per ounce of bullshit! How can you seriously look at someone and charge them this rediculous price for a product that does NOTHING! I cannot believe anyone really believes this crap works. Desperate people do desperate things. Including all you mindless people working here. I take crap all day long about my branded derm product for acne and psoriasis. At least I actually have peer reviewed, published pivotal studies from an FDA approval. I love when one of my aesthetic derms says a word about price and they have your products on the shelf! It's an easy "shut up" when they have no answer for how they can sell those products at those prices with no real science.

Whoever you are, I commend you! You are right on! This stuff is crap. I walked away because to sell something you have to believe in it and I had zero belief in this product. Its a sham. Snake oil. Not to mention the lame ass manager I worked for on the west coast. She's a sham too.
 


Well look at the team of managers we have! If you put all their brains in a room you might have half a brain! They are the dumbest of the dumb by believing this crap works! It's laughable to hear them think they know what they're talking about! Offices buy the stuff because so many sorry ass women (dumb as dirt women is more like it) think it will work and demand to have it. No doctor will ever put his reputation on the line to another doctor that this laughable product line, or any other for that matter, actually does a damn thing!
I will also bet you Mary F, in her honest moments with her finance friends laugh about how much money people will spend on worthless products put in pretty packages. It's a total sham and a waste of space, time, and certainly money.
