On our eco call, when asked the HED could not explain why a certain individual on our team got targeted and then stated he was going to backfill his territory later in the call? This so called leader had already lost trust to most of the team but now no one believes in him. Such a shame.
 
I have no clue what happened in PA but similar stories are playing out all across the nation. This model breeds corruption. From performance management, to talent development, incentive comp and rewards, ICX, interviewing, hiring and beyond we are consistently inconsistent.

We traded 8-10 TA silos for 32 Ecosystem Silos and an internal organization that never evolved with the model. There is no accountability at the PL8+ level (can you name an HED that was let go?). HDs continue to demonstrate that they can either be account managers or DMs but not both.

Individual contributors continue to quietly quit, many working multiple full time side hustles (real estate, gyms, personal trainers) and those that hustle and give 100% or voice up concerns are alienated and or silenced. This place needs a hard reset and no, the people in commercial and medical leadership that got us here cannot lead us out of it!

I have heard from numerous sources that this is true. Individuals being targeted for various reasons but some because the HD felt “threatened” or was jealous because their “superior skills” weren’t needed. Poor babies egos were hurt. So when given the chance, boom. And that is the truth.

If you are a HED and turning to Cafe’ Pharma looking for support I must say your arrogance and lack of integrity are no longer shadowing your stupidity. So, you say the point was to eliminate those who wanted to be eliminated. Please remember no one could raise their hands, why? What sorcery do these 2 women bring? What blame is theirs?
HEDs & HDs in their incompetency and poor leadership have destroyed the good name of Genentech. They are nothing more than vapid figureheads without purpose. Name one thing an HED or HD has truly accomplished for the good of the organization? It’s about time to send them back under a rock and allow the true talent in the ecosystem flourish. HEDs, own what you did and patiently wait for karma to manifest.

I believe the bells rang out in Pennsylvania when the only African American HD who also happens to be female and respectfully over 45 was targeted by the “suprematist” HeD for elimination. Considering the other possible HD choices, which are abundant, this decision is definitely rooted in more than the original BS in duplicity they were peddling. This female HD eliminated had the most experience in customer facing roles and a broad background of expertise in the biotech industry. It was evident she is far more capable than the buffoon who was allowed to discriminate and eliminate her role. Quita should be in PA asking some questions about what is going on there. This is a true case of the good ole boy club in action.

I am 4 years out of retirement age and want so badly to stay here but I cannot help but to think that I am living on the Titanic and we are starting to take water. Honestly, I hardly ever visit this site anymore but had to come on this evening to see what others are thinking. Most are spot on. When sales are not a priority, this is what happens. Wasn't our stock over $350 just a year and a half ago? Now, it's $219. My LTI's aren't worth anything. How are others feeling?
I worked in oncology at GNE for 15 years in multiple roles, then moved on. In late 2021 at age 60 I was termed by another oncology employer because I refused the toxic Covid jab. Based on my salary / bonus / unvested options it conservatively cost me $1.25M before taxes, given I planned to retire at 62.

Looking back, I would not change a thing. Everyone’s situation is different, the point is get out as soon as you can, even if forced out.

I would never go back to work in pharma for any amount of $.

No wonder everything is going to shit. Merit is no longer a hiring or retention consideration. It’s all about box checking for race, gender, and sexual orientation/identity. Stupid AF.
 
I'm not sure it's a sinking ship, there will be better days in the future, but that's a few years away. I don't think this recent RIF is the last we'll see this year. I'd look for a second round somewhere in Q3 or Q4. Just my opinion, but that seems to be where we're heading.

This company is falling apart. It was a slow burn back in the day, but this one is just arson with a gas can.
April 23? The next big announcements about our future are coming. Realignments, new hybrid assignments and compounded cross functional training. Doing more with less, to mimic our pipeline. This coming week will bring additional chaos to all those leftovers in the field, demanding that everyone pay no attention to the large dumpster fire formerly called “Customer Engagement” behind you.
