Having gone through many reorgs, I can say without a doubt this was the worst handled, a disgraceful and lousy way to go about it. Shame on you Jazz and good riddance!

So every Monday, our fearless leader Bruce records himself delivering a message about values and integrity, and the most important asset of a company, the people. I guess he wasn’t talking about Jazz with the way this situation was handled.

It goes to show that the talk does not match the walk - when it comes to actually showing the company will do this in a manner that is caring and professional - that they talk endlessly about - they don't show up. It shows the true values of the company and leadership.

Exactly this. They tell us what we want to hear. Make stupid decisions at the top. And then don’t take accountability. Sunosi was mismanaged from the start. And the decision to sell Sunosi to the highest bidder was made more than a year ago. The moment the sleep BU was split, the Sunosi team became expendable.

The drug was not considered that effective by sleep specialists and that is why the majority of patients in the clinical study moved up to doses Jazz chose not to market. At 150 it would not have worked for IH either. The OSA market is much larger than the Narcolepsy market - that is why they chased that market.

exactly. 300 would dominate narc and ih but 150 marginal improvement. 150 is great for osa, but as well all learned, the osa market is terrible

Given the other Jazz sleep product that costs 20x more is also indicated for IH, why do you think It wasn’t pursued….

For those of you that said Sunosi is a “good” med, I agree. However for narcolepsy, you really need 300 mg. 150 works well for OSA as long as the sleepiness is mild to moderate. Jazz however, failed to read and understand the osa market. You can’t cram this down psych and PCP’s throats expecting them to “get it”. Because osa is a sleep dr and pulmonologist therapeutic area. And neuros to an extent. Pulms won’t write it because they choose to prioritize cpap treatment. Psychs won’t write it because it’s a pulm’s drug. And if they do, it won’t be for eds in osa, but rather the intended effect of the dopamine and norepinephrine properties as adjunctive therapy or for shift work.

But hey, Jazz is washing its hands off of Sunosi. Axsome is inheriting this problem stepchild.

Pretty much spot on take here. For OSA both psych and pulm require substantial market development to make work which Jazz was clearly not willing to invest in. It’s doable but not particularly fast or cheap. 150 is pretty good for narc but not a slam dunk like 300 would be.

A few poor pre-launch decisions doomed this drug for Jazz

Best of luck to Axsome
