Ever hear of an advanced practice nurse? Wonder who sits on committees that develop treatment guidelines? Ever wonder what else nurses do besides deliver bedside care?

BS...NP’s and PA same thing. They carry out orders. Sure they sit on committees and offer AE management insights. So one way you get outside of that 1% of oncology nurses these other 98% are infusion nurses, the remaining 1% is your oral adherence nurse who handles PO meds. Again, no one is saying they are not critical to patient care, however in my 27 years in oncology none have had a big or any influence on prescribing. Sure they help with access if you befriend them, they are helpful to glean info from, they show up to your dinner programs and sure they are far more accessible and amenable to deal with than the doctors and thats why we give them so much attention. However at the end of the day 99% are not “saving lives” on a daily basis. That’s the truth. Like it or not.

While I don’t disagree, reps do not save lives but neither do oncologists all that often and when they do it’s from the drugs that our industry creates. Nurses? Stop. They follow orders...they make no treatment decisions. Not saying they are not an invaluable part of patient care, but saving lives is a big exaggeration.

100% agree. Maybe ER nurses or something super acute/critical that has life and death consequences in that moment but oncology nurses? No disrespect but most are hanging bags and giving premeds. It’s an important job and is respected but, yeah, no that are not ‘saving lives’ day in and day out. 95% don’t know anything about or care to know about the efficacy, MOA, etc of the drugs.

Develop treatment guidelines??? You are so full of shit it's amazing. Not knocking anybody in healthcare, but you certainly do not understand the workings of MCOs/PBMs, IHS, and guideline committees.

I side with the guy above, 27 years tells you the truth. He respects nurses of all types as do I but know they typically are not influencing prescribing choices. Sometimes, in my 33 years, with suggestion of anew agent, a new delivery option that helps them, or as problems occur or limitations in other therapeutic options they may just speak up. But it takes the right person, right situation to actually change things. That's the truth as well, like it or not.

Lots of salty pharma worker bees who couldn't get into med school & ended up pushing drugs to earn chedder w/ their failure to launch premed degrees in this thread.

Not really...nice thing is I live in the same neighborhood as a few of my oncologists. Have a nicer car and house than most of them and am a member at the same country club as them and am social with many of them. All from a few buyouts, minus this disaster, and making $300k-$400k a year while working 20 or less hours a week.

See not every commercial person is enthralled with doctors, many of us are not impressed with them anymore than anyone else. We don’t put them on a pedestal and praise them. They are ordinary people who chose medicine as their life’s work which I appreciate that there people who do to take care of of us. Do I see them any differently than the businesspeople, accountants, lawyers, politicians, etc in my neighborhood? Absolutely not. The days when the doctors are the wealthiest and/or most successful and revered people in our society are long since over. Heck my doctor friends complain that they work far too many hours for far to little money compared to most other professionals.

You sound like the salty primary care rep who is still scared and intimidated by their physician customers...

Thank you for the belly laughs, I really needed. My income was higher than yours, my education did not cost anywhere close to what you paid, and oh yeah I have stupid letters after my name like you.

At 39 years old I retired official "jobs" with more money than you will earn the rest of your life combined. How did that happen you ask, because I earned more than you every year, invested it, and now own a percentage in a PE large enough to buy your "employer". That literally by definition means that when you post your place of contract employment, because that is all you are, I will be 100% certain to hold up my end and our firm will purchase it.

Then your failure to launch theory can be laid out across the table, after you take 2 buses and the subway to your little place and interview to keep your job. Thanks again for the laughs and know that when the rest of us in the country talk about douchebags that think they are special because of letters attached to the end of their names, it is people like you we are laughing at because we have all the degrees and certs that you do without being the loser you are in this life.

My take, arrogance, narcissism and envy is everywhere. No matter what business you run, who you work for, your net worth in fiat, how important you think you are and what educational ladders you've climbed.

You sound as much like an ass as my older brother, the loser MD, who brags about his little achievements and position like a teenager yet he's late 60s. Or, like the folks worth between $50-75MM that live behind me with their Mary, Virgin Mother statue lite up all night in the far corner of their large plot of "perfectly" renovated yard, who think their shit doesn't stink and they can't "sin". Arrogance with financial success. And I know people worth $100+ million who become extremely insecure when they are around the billionaires I know. The truth. It is all relative. Glad I long gave up on excessive greed and envy.

Happy as a "poor multi-millionaire" in this dysfunctional culture.

Yeah other than the fact that you don’t have shit and the embedded link tied to your post proved it. Your “massive mortgage” is not dollars Bud, it is debt despite what the Quicken program told you on 13” Macbook. Not to mention you are a garbage rep.

Think the guy was saying that the "doctor talking about our inability to successfully get into med school and the douche telling the doctor how "big" his thing is", both have a problem with what really matters in life. Just my take.

Oh, who's to say your not a garbage pail carrying rep?
