There is something seriously wrong...

...at Otsuka, when so many people get paid so much money, for doing so little. I feel sorry for our patients that are being fleeced for absolutely mediocre drugs....

Lucky to be here, happy to be paid more than people far more educated, but checking boxes, doing lunches, and entering speaker programs is what we are paid to do. Tell that to the patient paying thousands for their medications.

A very long time sales rep here that doesn’t work for Otsuka. Just scanning CP and saw this thread. There is only one thing and one thing only that motivates a pharmaceutical company and that’s profit. Patients are never #1 and will never be. You are doing what they tell you to do whether it’s meaningless or not. Also, you must realize that they are incapable of meaningful change in the way they sell drugs.

Yes, they cheat patients. If the government mandates best price that will severely cut into profits and help patients.. You must check your ethics at the door, and put it out of your mind and provide for yourself and your family.

...Seems to me this is what a prostitute does!

I am afraid, if they knew they would break a few bones at the home office. Add to that that Rexulti will cause weight gain, increased blood sugar and possibly TD and Akathisia. All included in the outrageous price of this crap drug!

Rexulti is the perfect example of what’s wrong with this industry. Drugs that offer no benefit whatsoever over what’s already on the market should not be approved by the FDA. The fact that we sell a $1.00 worth is a testament to the sales organization!

Totally agree with you. I personally took Abilify and at a different time Rexulti as an adjunct to Trintellix. Bottom line: Abilify worked better and was cheaper. The only reason Rexulti is on there market is the fact that we need a stream of revenue to pay for every employee at the company. Take Rexulti away today, and there is no decline in patient care whatsoever.

Speaker programs? Who on earth is going there anymore except people that want free dinners? The speaker does not talk about anything that we haven't told our customers a zillion times already. There is nothing to be learned from them. They are promotional programs in disguise.

Well, the new "patient centric" approach will solve all of our problems, not to worry. Our leaders have finally figured out the holy grail to success. Doctors, who have never seen us will now wait to see us with a red carpet rolled out. They will kiss our asses, nurses will bend over ready to be ****** from behind. It will be absolutely amazing!

What is really astonishing is that idiots ("consultants") that have never carried a bag, or carried one 20 years ago, in conjunction with our dips hits at the top came up with brilliant bullshit. Create change for the sake of change. Something a bureaucrat of the US government would do. Blow smoke!

The absence of any comments here on Cafe Pharma from the home office or field managers speaks volumes. They are reading our comments, but are total cowards for not speaking up, because they have received a gag order, I presume.

Hey, it's easiest to just receive a paycheck and not rock the boat. Why bother doing what is right or makes sense...pathetic, just pathetic...but that is our company.

Only Otsuka would hire an ex electrical engineer and give him a huge management assignment.... clueless as shit, but that's what qualifies him. It's a slap in the face of any brilliant (Otsuk) employee who has been a rep, DM and RSD....

It has actually gotten better. The worst time at Otsuka was selling cough syrup mixed with quinidine for 1200 bucks a month. I lost a lot of friends in the medical community asking me not to come back with this bullshit!

That of course wasn't Otsuka's problem, but it became mine. Mycite, was, of course, another flop by our idiots, but hey WTF, just like in government, there are no consequences...

We, who want to do the right thing, just have to stand by helplessly, as these assholes plunder patients and reward themselves, for fucking up big time.

Call it prostitution, as the other poster replied, or cowardice, as you imply, but this company pays us all a lot of money to do whatever they deem important. You don't have to like it and you don't have to stay here. Yes, we are losing some good people but change is inevitable in our industry.
I don't know very many electrical engineers but the ones I do know are pretty smart. What degree do you need to do this job anyway? Let's give this a chance. All I know is they have trimmed a few jobs that needed to be gone and maybe more to come. If you've earned your place to remain here, congratulations.

It's not so much that you need a degree to do his job; what bothers me is the fact the man never carried a bag, never encountered the challenges we face, never led a district, etc., but now is in the position he is in.
I think he is totally clueless about what we do everyday, (which is pretty much all "cover your ass"), faking calls, faking call notes each and every day just to get by, because there is no other way anymore. It was bad 3-4 years ago, and with COVID 19 its only got worse.

He is no idea how unfair it is to hold people accountable when they have absolutely no power or control over what they have to accomplish. If the office is closed or closed to reps what is the rep supposed to do? Force his way in with a gun to talk to the doctor?

Valid point. We've had a few "leaders" assume high positions who checked a box for their one month field rotation during their career training or just come in from Marketing with their MBA on display. Until they actually get in the field, have a few doctors laugh at them (even if they do see them), or just smile and nod their head when the home office stooge breaks out the latest marketing piece, then they will never know what we endure and try to embellish every stinking day.
8 calls a day to high and very high targets only gets you sample drops and an occasional lunch with admins and nurses. This is not 1995.

Spot on!

The hallmark of Otsuka is that we have managers and directors that could not do themselves what they ask us to do!! When I served in the military, I never had a leader who asked me to do something he couldn't do himself. And when I asked him HOW to do it, he, unlike Otsuka people, had answers.

That trait has a name: INCOMPETENCE! These people are not even ashamed of themselves telling us what to do. Ask anyone of these morons HOW to do it and they are at a loss of words!!!

And it starts all the way at the top of the sales organisation!

But hey, as long as you can financially fleece the patient and get away with it, it works!

It's not difficult to scan an ID at the fitness center, Captain America.
