Vitas

i hear the Sacramento sales manger is a real piece of work. Doesn't trust reps and does not want them to speak with each other, or ever come into the office. Lots of turnover here. They have lost at least three reps in the last 9 months.

Was just let go from Vitas a couple of weeks ago and I feel like I was released from prison. This is a horrible company to work for and very, very poorly managed. The clinical staff is great and do a good job but the marketing/sales aspect is a nightmare. Joe P. who is Eastern regional manager is the biggest horse's *ss you will ever meet in your life. He is the basic insecure school yard bully. The company just rides you to get as many referrals (aka dying people) as possible each month and treat those numbers like bottles of soda or boxes of shoes. They try to get people on as early as possible so they can bill medicare forever and ever. I truly think they are pushing the envelope regarding the legality of the medicare reimbursement for hospice. Hey medicare-is anyone watching and listening?

Sorry to hear that. How long did you work there? Seems like that company has a lot of turnover?

I'm interested in the turnover, too. While it sounds like a difficult sell, how can you tell how it will be in an area? Do most doctors stay loyal to just one , or are they open to trying others?
TIA for serious replies.

I interviewed with this company. I'm so glad I did not take the job. The people there were completly unprofessional. I got the feeling that Vitas doesn't give a rats ass about the patients or their employees. It is all about $$$$, which is so sad because hospice is a really wonderful service.

True words re: Joe P. Was overly impressed with himself during my interview. I ended up going to another company, where I regularly eat Vitas' lunch. The BS that Joe threw at me during my interview is what drives me each day to bury him, competitively.

The Quality of your experience will largely depend on who your gen. mgr(GM) and mgr (DMD) are. Overall, I've found that they hire and promote non or ill-experienced people who have zilch talent. Total pharma haters. If you're in the marketing end, expect ridiculously high turn-over and those who stay are biding their time to get out. It's sorry because it's a great service and philosophy. There is this wierd sense of animosity between the clinical manager and marketing reps. Like they know how to sell hospice and you don't. The nursing staff is good, for the most part. You can't really do that part without really liking it.
Would I take this job again? NO. There are better places and ways to make a living in sales/marketing.

I know it's been a long time since anyone posted to this thread, but maybe an update wil help someone down the road.

Vitas is a company with a worthy mission, that is hamstrung by its inability to correlate its marketing with its clinical arm. Also. each program is run by its own GM, and they are NOT created equal. My GM sucks, as does our RDMD Joe Priestas. If you hear his name attached to anything, just walk away.

Agree!! Mr. Joe Preistas is the death of his own divison. Sales force rated no. 2 on the list. Upper management allows this fat dickhead to continue his micromanaging tactics which has sucked out all the motivation from DMDs and sales reps. Hey, upper management: just do away with ARFs and do drop down only for call entries. More time is field instead putting in calls a third of the day!!!Get it now!! Call Pharma for help!!

I work at Vitas. I do very little work all day. My manager is a complete tool. I falsify almost every document they need from me. I usually go to the movies during the day or shopping. I love getting over on this company

You should just switch jobs and be happy bud. I actually work for a competitor of Vitas...and this industry needs less people like you. So get into educating the community on brooms or something.

Wow, a rep of our competitor wants me to move on? I am proud that I can 'game' this company. they are horrible. They deserve it. Plus, I also look for other opportunities while collecting my check. So, there it is. I win

there is a sexual relationship that a manager is having with a rep. I have concrete evidence and am considering sharing it. I fear being blackballed in the industry. Anyone have advice?
