When can we expect the 2nd round of layoffs to occur? I have already heard another round coming in late summer and one more at end of year. This place is becoming toxic
 








Maybe we can start with deconstructing the ecosystem model. It’s ok to be wrong, Genentech. The model has failed. Middle management is too fat and the people driving your business are leaving.
 








I think we'll see another lay off before the end of 2024. I don't see anything outside of some wild increase in sales numbers that can change that. The company is not in good shape. The miss on the Alzheimer drug, the loss of market share in the oncology space, the overreach in DEI, the ecosystem model and just poor leadership has put the company in a bind. A bigger headcount cut is most likely coming in Q4 in hopes of setting the company up for a better outcome in 2025.
I'll also add, the pipeline is not good. Too many line extensions and not enough new therapies. Roche needs to buy a product that's ready to go, in a space that's not overcrowded.
 


The Ecosystem MODEL does not support the therapeutic areas bringing in the most revenue. Xolair and Vabysmo have little business in the hospitals so WHY THE ECOSYSTEMS ?
 


Because if you haven't noticed, leadership is rife with idiots. They don't know how to get out of their own way and too busy trying to justify their existence. HEDs, HDs, really? Neither role is needed.
 


Uncle Roche will become much more visible in the next few months. Word has it they are going to clamp down on the incompetence currently at Genentech. Middle management is the target, as well as leadership. DEI aggressions have failed miserably, and as a result we are replacing talent with quotas. Not a formula for success. Uncle Roche realizes now that they shouldn't have listened to Quita and the gang.
 


Genentech has become life sucking tumor requiring immediate treatment or this current condition will be terminal. The organization is being destroyed by opportunists who are ravaging a one great place to work with mediocrity and incompetence.(we call them HeDs, HDs or useless POSs) The culture is simply awful due to poor leadership at all levels. The share holders need to realize there is no conscious left here at any level. The shit has rolled all the way the hill and the organization has the stench of apathy and defeat. We need the other shoe to drop in hope of change and a future.

Someone hit a nerve. I detect a bit of a guilty conscience and this response is the first step in getting the help you need. Maybe start with field experience, a tad of common sense and a willingness to say, “I don’t know”, let’s figure it out. Emotions are high. This situation will be good and ripe by the Fall just in time for the next reaping.
