What do we get from Optimer?

Looks like we will be selling a C. dif drug into the hospital market. Worries me a little, because most hospitals will compound injectable vanco with a suspending agent or using cheap oral metronidazole before spending $$$ on Vancocin capsules or the new difimicin. Not sure about this........

About $200 a bottle and they carved out the first 29 bottles from our Dapto bonus structure.

Can't wait for this marriage to split into a mutual divorce. The sooner the better.

Why would we buy Optimer? We have our own C-diff product in the pipeline. Optimer does not have a long patent on Dificid either. Lastly, we just bought Adolor and their phase 3 product is geared for a 2 billion dollar market.

Trust me, the Optimer reps could not agree more! I have not spoken to my Cubist counterpart in about 2 months. Does not matter because I've done all the work anyway as I should. Definately was a mistake on our part to partner with you. Live and learn I guess.

Optimer's product is a dog. You can't give the stuff away because generic vanco or metro are both too cheap and hospitals are just increasing the dose or giving them together. My local Optimer rep is the laziest person I ever met. We can't wait to be rid of you either.

Funny....they said the exact same thing about Cubicin when it cam out. Too expensive non-superiority vs vanco, blah, blah, blah. Now look at how well Cubicin and Cubist is doing. Dificid has superiority and now NTAP. Two things Cubicin can never say. Dificid will be the gold standard but it takes a few years.

Not to mention that papazz is a moron with no clue and the marketing materials are sh-t........

Regarding rumors... any idea of the time line if this is to be the case? Will they keep both cubist and optimer sales force?

Those that know aren't talking right now. This much is known, however. The Cubist drug for c.diff isn't any more effective than Dificid. Why spend the money bringing a new drug to market that has no clinical benefit? They are also having a terrible time enrolling patients into the studies, just too strict in criteria for entry. Only a hundred, maybe less enrolled so far and a thousand are needed. The phase III studies can't be completed at this rate for another 3-3 1/2 years, and lots of money. Does Cubist want to spend the money and time on a another me-too drug?

Please not Cubist! My counterpart was so scared to actually have to build a drug from the ground up she never talked about it. Most of the Cubist reps now did not launch the drug and know nothing about really selling. Sorry, just the truth.
