What is this company like to work for, and how do they offer benefits (401k, etc.) when it's contract positions? Are you hired on with a contract for a specific amount of time? Guaranteed salary for that position? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

May be let go at any time...mgrs lie to keep you on ..just in case and them let you go on a whim

.... and if you find a better gig somewhere else, they have the nerve to say, "what happened to loyalty?". Which I respond with, "it was stolen by Quintiles and the rest of the Pharma industry".

Don't Work for Quintiles

Quintiles has a severe problem, but won't admit it. Employees are extremely unhappy. Full-time employees are laid off and replaced with contractors. The staff is overworked and most departments are short-staffed. Internal departments are fighting daily. Quintiles deserves a nomination for the worst employer. Wake up Quintiles executives - you have made poor decisions at the expense of your employees. Without loyal employees, your business will continue to spiral downward.

LOL. Get your facts straight. What is this nonsense about "business will continue to spiral downward" ? Business has never been better. Go check the careers page on their website and see some of the best place to work awards won around the globe. Those awards often involve independent surveys of employees by a third party company. But dont let facts stand in the way of your baseless claims. Now go back to work

Why are departments replacing full-time employees with contractors and, in some cases, not replacing employees? Why are departments short-staffed if business is so great? Whatever your smoking, please share it. Quintiles is a terrible place to work!

I'm sorry that you were likely let go from Quintiles earlier this year. You see, sometimes companies need to make changes in order to stay competitive, If you are managing your career and keeping your skills current (and contributing!) you will have a great career at Quintiles. I work there and really enjoy it

I am looking at taking a pharma position with Quintiles. They are telling me the base is 55-60K + an average at plan 10K bonus. Is there any room for negotiation in this salary?

What is the standard vacation time given to a Quintiles employee? Are you able to negotiate additional vacation time or have you heard of employees being able to do this?

Company Car? They are saying they pay $650 per month and then give you a gas card. Are you allowed to use the gas card for personal mileage?

Does Quintiles offer a 401K? Pension?

What are the chances of taking a rep position and getting promoted to a Quintiles District Sales Manager?

Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

After 10 years with another pharma company, it's a tough market...I just want to make sure I am not selling myself short.

First off,

I worked here for 10 years off and on. I am currently working here....with that being said, I suggest you look somewhere else if you have aspirations of promotion....they almost ALWAYS take managers that are out on the street over an internal candidate. They have a plan we all call COAST- Carrot on a stick treatment

Great Acronym, COAST but veryyy true.

No pensions offered. Yes for 401Ks offered. Biggest grip is promotions to the next level is hard. But it may depend on the internal group you work for.

I am leaving because of the lack of promotion and I'v bee with the company for more than half a decade. For me it was time to move on.

Love the Coast comment also!! I would love to be impartial and objective about Quintiles, but it's challenging. I've been in sales with Quintiles for over 7 years (also on and off). There have been a ton of great reps that I have worked with and managers as well. There is usually no negotiating salary. If you have been in the industry for 5 plus years, you will usually get the maximum... with salary increases if the contract goes beyond one year.

There are usually, but not always, no promotions from within. If the person above is leaving because of lack of promotion, then they should not have come to work for Quintiles in the first place. I have been with them a little bit longer and have always been a top performer. Most people achieve a high ranking at some point in their tenure with Quintiles. They toy with some people and place them in a manager trainee position. Most of the ones that get placed in this position are the last people that I would want to be my manager. They do the least amount of work, but they sure are good at beating their chest and telling everyone how great they are!

As far as the company goes, in general, it just depends on who your manager is. On the last contract I had a great manager. On my current contract my manager is a dud. He has his favorites as far as the reps go and there is no getting beyond that.... so... I keep myself off the radar .... and do a quality job for the company because the next contract will be with different managers and different reps.

Sometimes a company car, sometimes personal car. If personal car, you get gas card that you can use for some personal use and 650 monthly allowance. It's not bad if you get a small territory, but, as you can imagine, most of the territories are not small. Hope this helps!!

I've been with Quintiles for a few years. Also laid off from big pharma.
They don't seem to have as many contracts as Inventiv does, but contract work is still that, contract work. What stinks is the need to look for a new gig every year.
Unless, you are fortunate and get a two year (or longer) contract.
The sad reality is that this is the future of pharma sales.

This is completely wrong. There are so many employees who work for Quintiles that are extremely happy. I have been with Q for 6 years as a Sr. CRA 3 and can honestly say it is by far the best company I have ever worked for. The pay is competitive and the benefits are outstanding. If somebody has a problem with Quintiles, it is most like a problem with their manager, not the company.

I don't know who these people are that are having a great time at Quintiles. Where the heck do they work, and how can I get transferred to THAT department? I'm so overworked that I am starting to burn out. I don't enjoy my previously enjoyable profession since I joined this company. I guess I have become one of those miserable Q employees, but I really do feel that the life has been sucked right out of me by this job. Meeting all of the demands would mean never stopping. 24/7 work. Right.

So make it your business to find another job. Jeeeze.... Complaining here with the other crybabies wont help at all!!
