Abbott. Just go read the board and it is so obvious. They sell 2 drugs for the same disease state and pit partners against each other. Micro manage out the ass and lay off their own people during acquisitions to save money. they seriously suck and it is too bad because most of the reps are pretty bright. All of the good ones have left or are looking to get out.

Schering, AZ, Novartis, Sanofi-Aventis. They're all the same, call and frequency metric driven managed by corporate talentless hacks. Industry is coming to an end.

they are all really bad at this point...big, small, biotech, start-up...

All really bad...If you have a good boss, you can maybe live with it for a few years before you go nuts...

i don't understand when I see postings on CP that say, "I am going to get my resume out" or "better start sending your resume out" like you are gonna go from a bad situation to a much better one.

This whole industry is in major crisis...Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. (FUBAR) It is a really really bad career choice now.

If I had to pick the very worst company though, I would have to say Xanodyne Pharmacal out of the Kentucky/Cincinnati area.

Pfizer. Being asked to put a sample bottle in every single doctor's hand was degrading and inappropriate; what if the doctor was heading to see a completely different patient? 'By any means necessary' was their motto. Absolutely the worst.

Lilly-most of them are dumbshits that couldn't sell their head out of their a**. If they vomit more info rather than answer Drs' questions, that would be a step in the right direction. They hire blonds/insurance guys/cintas employees/college grads w/ no experience and retail dumbshits. The only ones they haven't hired are the lamp guys!!!!

I never in my wildest dreams thought I would say this but it is without question Lilly. There are close seconds but Eli Lilly is probably rolling over in his grave at what is happening. Amazingly many of the surveys from non-employees list all the great benefits but those inside know that the reps are demoralized and looking for every opportunity to get out. I hope that someone at the top of the company eventually catches on to what the mid and upper managers are doing and save the company. Literally, top reps that could be put up against any sales person in any industry are being told they are worthless in some form or fashion. It's all about how many doctors you see, quantity, quantity, quantity.

It's funny how all the upper management types hype how "we are the best in this industry" (I've been w3 pharma companies and that speech is always the same, heard it at all 3) YET, they mimic what all those other "bad" companies do!
X company averages 9 details per day, we at Z will do 10! Y company says that Z company is doing 10 so we will do 12! X company hears about Z and says that we must improve to be the best and will go for 14! X, Y and Z are really not in a pissing contest so much as they are pissing on themselves and don't realize it!

Then all other companies hear about the # of calls and mimic too. Quality calls are history.

GSK - an entire organization whose philosophy is one of management by threats and intimidation.

You are all probably wrong. If you view the really small cough cold and sales companies that really do not own a product Many merely resell as distributors and have no pipeline of products, zero managed care coverage, primarily acute drugs, and work for relatively financially tight companies. Examples are evident on the company boards. Atley, Athlon, Reliant, Hawthorn et al. These poor bastards are gambling on these low base pay, little benefits jobs as stepping stones to who knows what.

I just left gSK, and I know the big pharma honeymoon is over. Why? Little to do with the quality of the products as much as the immoral leadership of greedy zealots trying to capture whats best for today in exchange for any future. They all banked on BS projections and product hopes. A little FDA and congressional pressure on the industry comes from just stupid greedy arrogance. Does anyone believe that the generations to come will not expect growing government entitlements including meds? We played into their hands and now we are the bullseye in a class warfare battle.

Stay if you must, but break away if you can!
