CORONAVIRUS

If you read news that isn't MSM, the outbreak is substantial. China has 56 million on lockdown. The doctor who treated the first patient has died from it. Confirmed cases around the globe with vast majority in Asia.

Knowing travel to the US from Asia usually has a stop in CA, how long before this becomes an epidemic if not a pandemic?

Has anyone heard of contingency plans from their senior leadership? Doctor's office visits? Traveling to and from meetings on planes? This could get real very fast.

sure.
just like Ebola.
smh.

So what is happening at your companies? travel restrictions? cancelled meetings? anything?

Becoming quite the hullabaloo internationally. Still have the ostrich mentality here in the states at my company.

I am concerned as a rep going into offices and hospitals with very sick people who may have Covid19 until the states test we won’t have any idea and be spreading as silent spreaders or to other offices if not getting sick ourselves.
Company not saying a word ..acting business as usual but we are the ones who will pay the price as well as our families.

True, while they lie in their comfy bed, us employers has no choice but to go to work, sad truth.

The majority of us will be laid off due to the coronavirus, just a question of when.

i think that is a given...perfect excuse to cut loose a bunch of expensive grey hairs and let 'em fend
for themselves in this new "robust" gig economy!

You too can take what you've learned in pharmaceutical sales, and apply it to driving for
Uber Eats or Door Dash...

You may have to get used to making less a year, than you used to make in a month though...

If you aren't setting up a side hustle right now you're an idiot....because this will change the way pharma does business.

The business is going in the direction of a small core salesforce and the utilization of contract sales for launches.

Covid will the the catalyst for that to accelerate.

Pharma will pray at the altar of Covid 19...

it will enable them to achieve many of their objectives on an accelerated basis...

while a few managers (not execs) may feel a bit of discomfort, the sales forces are going to be
experience more pain than at a Kardashian Botox party with dull needles...

It's gonna get fugly folks...You're all slaves when it comes down to it...

Get your own thing going quick, and get used to living like you were in Cuba or Venezuela,
because you basically do now...

Totally agree. What office wants a rep going from one office to the next spreading the virus? Besides, offices will find out how much more productive they are without the interruptions of a rep giving nothing but rehash and dropping a few samples! Big Pharma will use the virus as an excuse to "rightsize" their company. They know that most reps are only a few hours of the day busy. And this virus just makes it worse!!!

Excellent points but it won't be that bad for the managers...They signed their "deal with the devil" so the company will usually treat them with "kid gloves" even in crazy times like this crisis. A few unlucky managers will have the choice of becoming reps again or taking a package and trying their luck out on the carnage of the job market.

Remember, the managers need tons of reps under them to keep the scam going, so they won't decimate them as bad as would normally be expected. (Despite knowing they are mostly all essentially as worthless as themselves.)

Corporate America is a crazy place. It has gotten even more Machiavellian and "winner take all" now that the world has been tilted.
