District Manager/Regional Manager/salary and bonus

Boy this is fun to read, I worked at Pfizer right out of college, four years later, fell in love with and married one of the doctors I used to call on. She inherited her practice from her Dad who was a GP in the area for awhile. Make the long story short, she convinced me to go to med school, which I did in Venezuala, before you laugh, I spent four years there encountering patients you would never see in the US, making a difference. After that I got accepted to a residency program at stony brook university hospital, anyon familiar with that knows it's one of the top ten med schools in the country, I am now finishing my fellowship in Rheumatology in North Carolina, and by the way, I have next week off, so the first time n about two years I am pretty drunk, my buddy from pfizer told me to check this board out, anyway, not to digress, I was offered a position on staff at a teching institution in NY after I finish my fellowship, anyone that knows anything about NY probably knows what hospital that is...salary? 160,000 dollars plus expenses, after three years I will be an adjunct professor making close to four hundred...the moral? The money is not much better, especially considering the 280k I have in education bills. But, I will trying to make peoples lives better, while you and your rd come to my office and try to make me write something. I only feel the need to write this because I was a former rep. everything you think doctors think about you? multiply the negative by ten, and you dms and rms, you are only worse. I ask you all to look at your lives and take a chance and try som.ething else, yeah, I know I lucked out, I married the chick, but I am 34 know and I am just starting my life. I hope that helps to inspire someone and I did not waste anyones time

The funny thing is, I really don't give a shit what an MD thinks (even tough I have to multiply by ten). If the dumb fuck wants to write my product I leave him alone, will do. Write the product or I will be here every week making small talk. Most docs think of us negativeley, I really don't care. I'm getting pretty phat bank right now.

[/ QUOTE ] Go fuck your self son. If you had stayed in sales you could make more than that 160k salary. Iv'e been in this business for only seven year. I made 150 in big pharma. now with biotech. frankly I don't give a rat's ass about what the doctors think about me. I am not out here trying to make a new set of friends. I am simply try to provide the best quality of life for my wife a family. So you can take you foreign med shool degree and fuck self. I is obvious you now have a holier than thou attitude. I bet you voted for kerry as well.

Ps: the part about close to 400k is abosolute bull shit. Not in a teaching facility.

Sincerely,

I don't give a fuck.

He is an a hole with 300k grand in rapidly accumulating debt. Hey buddy, My MBA student loan is paid in full, I have no credit card debt, a sweet ass company car, 6 months of living expenses in a money market w/check writing privileges, a maxed out 401k with my company, a Roth for me and hubby, Mutual Funds for kid's college and a mortgage that will be paid for in 5 years! Oh, I am also a partner in some real estate ventures. There are smart reps who use their pharma as seed money to create multiple lines of income. How do you sleep at night? Oh, by the way, while you are stuck in the office because you were bombarded by managed care and medicare patients, I will be stopping at the gym.

The green eyed monster is running loose now! (That's "Jealousy" for all you business majors out there).

I say congrats to this guy.

And for all you with the "I don't give a shit what the doc's think of me" mindsets, isn't a good relationship with your customer paramount to the selling process? I mean if you don't give a shit about them, and they think you're a worthless corporate functionary, doesn't that make it difficult to build trust (another essential part of SALES)?

Keep riding that wave reppies, it'll hit shore soon.

If you take notice, that individual states that the practitioner is an employee of a hospital. There are Im's who know how to run their businesses clearing in th 500's! This is all business. Some docs aren't business people and are not concerned. This is not the pharma industrie's issue.

Wyeth DM here, veteran, been a manager for 3+ years,in the industry for 5+.Salary of 72,500,bonus of 17,000 and of course I'm the boss.

Way under paid. Albeit I am in specialty pharma but have only been in it for 5 years and make a lot more. Granted I am a PC winner but still this year with salary and bonus will pull in $130k or so

This is interesting if any of these numbers are accurate. I much prefer a lower base with huge comission potential. I W2'd $225k last year at age 32 after getting out of pharma sales at age 29. I will make over $200k this year too. I remember all the cocky DMs and RMs that thought they were the shit, I laugh knowing I make so much more and I don't have to kiss so much ass. Management is not worth going into if you are good at sales.

Who isn't kissing ass in sales? Are you in device? YOU sound like the shit!

Definitely bullshit. DM's are not making 150k in base. They are NOT making 200k per year total. How do I know? I used to be a DM and now in HR. I know what DM's are making in our company.
smile.gif

You are an idiot! I am a biologic rep and I make a $130K base with $40K bonus. Our managers make 160K+ in base plus 50K+ in bonus. Take your blinders off and understand that salaries are all across the board.
