Why do so many people hate this job?

Yes. And it's horrible to be on the receiving end when they decide your the next one targeted. It creates a sense of confusion and leads to anxiety and demoralization. "Why am I being targeted? Sure, I had a bad quarter, but I'll rebound next quarter as I've done in the past. And I'm doing well in all other aspects of the job. Why me?" - these are the kind of questions you may be asking yourself when you find yourself in that unfortunate position. Fact is, there's too many people with sociopathic personality traits in the industry now and many are in management positions. They'll get there's in the end. It may take some years, but bad behavior that hurts other human beings eventually comes back on the perpetrator.

People who could never get an actual medical degree and have poor people skills (and sociopath tendencies) are what management is all about. It’s a pathetic made up job in a sleazy industry. Has had zero respectability in years and years. Anyone who has any sort of IQ at all is unhappy in any rep job.
 


Here’s another reason this business sucks. Pharma still pushes reps to do speaker programs. Yes, the key opinion leader who speaks receives payment, but the landscape of these events is a crock. Rarely a prescriber will show up and you get the hand slapped for anyone else. Now add the rule for no glass of wine or a beer. How are reps fulfilling these objectives to appease marketing? How do you get prescribers to attend a restaurant these days to hear a presentation? It's just as hard to find an office that will allow a speaker in during a lunch, too. The days of the successful Speaker Program are long gone.

As the posts before state you have sociopaths in leadership who nothing more creative to offer to drive business...let's not forget most are complete dip$hits!!
