I was laid off yesterday in CV

I was laid off by novartis too as part of global restructuring after many years service- different division tho.

I’m devastated by the news- liked my job, the people, didn’t see this coming. It certainly makes me reassess loyalty to a company- I will never invest to the same level in a company again. I worked my ass off for Novartis over the years through some very difficult times. Just a business transaction in the end, very sad when you care about the output of what you do.

I’m truly sorry and I hope you are finding way better opportunities. Even though we should all know this - we are numbers to management and restructures are harsh reminders. I really hope you are happier now that you’ve had time to adjust.

I’m disgusted with the way Novartis has handled the latest restructure. CV leaders are the worst I’ve ever experienced. I worked in training for a weeks last year and it was widely acknowledge that reps hired in 21/22 were not the same caliber as the specialty reps or even the contract reps from before. This past reorg was a massive FUto reps and abls who have stayed the course despite Duane’s chaotic direction.
Reps in my region are leaving at the rate of 1-2 per week since the reorg. My abl who is great person said to me - I don’t want you to leave but I know you’re probably looking. What a sad time at Novartis.

The worst part of it all? They don’t care. Do what’s best for you and don’t look back at this cesspool. They don’t deserve your time or loyality.

So yes. I was laid off yesterday. I am getting fully paid until the end of November, so I’m happy about that. Yet, annoyed that some people with numbers lower than me are still staying. I’m in my 30’s, so hopefully I can find a new job with more stability and management that knows their ass from they’re able. Vas, Duane, Des, and even my RD are truly incompetent brain dead idiots. I hope they get fired someday soon. I need a company where they don’t have idiots for upper management. And a company that actually cares for their employees. We were all just dollar signs to them. I heard there will be 1-2 more lay offs before next summer, so I suggest leaving before then. I will count my blessing that I’m no longer part of this shit hole.

Do yourself a favor and get out of large corporate sales jobs.

Seek out privately held companies for the most part or companies not listed on stock exchanges.

Also, when you interview, go with managers that would be "fun" to work with. Talk to their reps if you can to get a feel of this manager as well.

My first downsize in this industry was nearly 20 years ago, when I was about your age. I was stubborn and hung around too long in this industry, and it cost me dearly because it is not an industry that has integrity or an industry that truly values hard working and creative sales professionals.

Best to you.

I definitely see your point. Thank you for the advice! :)

Be thankful. You dodged a bullet.
