This job blows

Seriously, I have been here for 4 years and it sux the big one. Just wanted to vent. I'm so sick of working my ass off to see no results. It's just too damn cost conscious nowadays

Just have your doctors "kick and scream" for it. Lol

Problem is the job has changed but we still have much of the same sales mentality. We are trying to increase cost, hospitals are reducing inventory and trying to decrease cost. We will lose everytime unless something is innovative enough to warrant a dr to demand it. There's the rub!

You could kill yourself all year and it will make a little difference. Or, You could also be more of an account manager and keep your customers happy and maintaining your relationships. I choose the latter.

I'm not so sure senior reps go to many cases anymore. There are plenty of other things to manage without taking up space in an OR. It's kind of weird to be in there in the 1st place unless they have agreed to trial something new...just my 2 cents

Op here. Good points. I'm just down in the dumps today and really considering a change. I know we all face the EXACT same challenges in the field. I would love to hear some advice from some other senior reps on how they approach this job!

Maybe I am taking it too seriously!

7 years here now a GYN rep...this job blows. I dont care if they paid me $200K, most unfulfilling job ever..todays Sigma call was a joke too....Not sure how much more I can take!! Hahaha

This post is dead on. I couldn't agree with this poster more. Unless you work in Ortho or a Cath Lab (and even those jobs are questionable the past few yrs about having it necessary to have a rep present in CERTAIN cases)....work smart, not hard folks. There is enough other BS we need to manage and have to deal with. I make $130-$140k/yr & my QOL is great. I'm not bragging, nor am I bitching. I probably work 20-25 hours/week. The days of being present in an OR EVERY day or "a few times per week" in the OR are long gone. The hospital staff has made our lives a living hell as a whole. I stop by my good accounts every couple weeks, try to see different OR personnel, and keep them happy. Being omni-present in the OR is tough & if you are there all the time with no real value to bring to the table, you're just going to upset the powers that be even more. That's my 2 cents. I'm always open to hearing what other reps from other parts of the country are encountering

I agree with you and the previous post. Unfortunately my team and my manager feel that it is important to be in cases all day everyday even if there is no shot it hell that these docs would ever switch. I say if they are not trying something new or you are working towards closing them for a trial stay out of the OR.

What do you do in the OR then? That is just a dumb expectation.

For me I only go to cases to sell and defend. The idea of just standing in a case because my product is being used is absurd. (Unless of course I am selling or defending)

This job is a joke and is totally contract driven. No need to pay reps 6 figures for what we do, no wonder all the new reps come in at such low pay and zero sales experience.

I am wondering...how many cases does an executive rep attend in a week?

I have been here over 4 years and with this new structure I don't see any reps in my account....ever!! Hbt and/ or gyn. I am a TL

That's cause you are a lazy ass with only 10 accounts. Your HBT has double the accounts you have and GYN has nearly every account in the division.

You will go far with ESC with your lack of critical thinking and complaining that the other reps on your team don't spend enough time in your accounts. Well played lazy TL.... well played.

You can believe what you want but I assure you that my HBT and Gyn rep are the lazy ones. I consider myself an average worker in regards to cases I attend. I know for a fact my HBT and GYN rep COMBINED have attended about 20 cases total ytd. 20 between both of them in my whole territory!!

Now I'm no superman but that breaks down to about 1 per month for each of them. I wish they would just cut both positions and let me have it all....pathetic
