What happened to Rolodex Stallion?

I think we shut him/her up.

but, he/she might be on the lake with their $250,000 "investment", a common purchase for someone who has to throw the occasional party with fake friends and to impress fake people that could care less about the good old RS.

The stallion is too busy to be heard at this point. He is a leader and brilliant biotech entrepreneur. It is not easy being a husband, father, leader and business person.
He / she is resting up the busy week ahead as the passenger in a fleet car playing games on his iphone and packing lunch boxes.

He/she is at church right now, thinking they can save the world through the power of prayer...

but its not just any prayer...

its a prayer from the RS...

surely God will respect that.

Go Stallion go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This sounds like me writing this post, but it wasn't!
Wow, pharma soul mates lol. I couldn't hold out for a layoff either. And I actually DID start having very physical health problems as a result of that job. All kinds of things started happening (stomach issues, weird allergy type of symptoms, anxiety, complete sleeplessness, even full blown panic attacks, which I never had in my life!!), and I'm an avid exerciser, always healthy, strong person, not "old". You will probably not believe this, but immediately after leaving the job, every BIT of it went away. Those crazy panic attacks stopped and have never had one since. What does that tell everyone about what this job/industry can do to you, your well-being, your soul? Btw, I was embarrassed by the job also, and even worse, my spouse was embarrassed as well!!

So odd, My world was OK and I was grinding it out. Not thrilled, but I made the best of the day.
Then I get a know it all DM. All of 30 and was a "corporate" guy. He was so scared of the RD if he was told to cut his finger off with a dull knife he would have. After about three months I swore my shoulder was rotting off. It was painful and really hurt at night. Nothing worked. physical therapy, anti-inflammatory meds, TENS , pain bills. Nothing.

I get laid-off six-months later and boom. Never ever had a shoulder pain again. What a blessing.

Shoulder pain is not a symptom of a stroke.
Shoulder pain that lasts for months is not a sumptom of a heart attack.
Ever wonder why doctors don't give some reps any repect?

It’s been fun people, and by the way you really are losers if you are posting on CP on the weekend…GET A LIFE!

How soft are you??? You let a 30 some year old kid affect your life that much? Let alone for the mediocre pay you as a PC reps makes! Pharma is the easiest sales job in the world. You would be dead in a month if you actually ever had to go out and sell something or had to work for a living! Grow a pair already! Even if your DM rode with you 4 days a month that is only 20% of the month, throw in a meeting a quarter so for the vast majority of your work year you never see your DM! Again you would be dead if you worked in an industry where your success and failures were on visible daily!

You are still and asshole. I bet your wife cringes when you pull in the drive way with your fleet car as your kids run to their room. You are the very reason the majority of the good people have left the industry. Enjoy the hair gel and fast lane.

You are probably a young manager that doesn't know his head from his ass.

Glad they are leaving and take their candy ass whining with them. Again I love how you morons speculate on the life of another…insecure much?

Umm, whoever wrote this; you are truly a loser.
YOU think this job is real. You assume people talking are PC. Hate to tell you, but a lot of us are way ahead of you in both experience and intelligence. I was NEVER in PC. Specialty the whole time I was in the business, right from day 1 --unlike you. I can tell you are young, and I'll bet the hair gel is dripping. You're a bar fly. You don't even realize the difference between "oh my DM was too tough on me" and what those of us who have at least half a brain already know....
it's not somebody being "tough"; it's about people being suck-ass corporate climbers who have no clue how to manage or treat people. Big difference between that and "being tough".
You will probably never know how to act properly with others. My guess is that you're in that ME generation, which is truly frightening to think about how the future will look with people like you around. Grow up you ignorant little greaseball! hahahahaha!
You are obviously way too young and dumb to realize that this ISN'T a real business, it's not a REAL job, and it HAS changed from the once-respected thing that it once was.
Get back to your drink in the bar; your sleazy friends are waiting.
Have a lovely evening, little boy. hahahahaha!

yup, yup and yup...

thanks for taking the time to post this.

I am truly embarrassed by our industry and the sales profession. It seems like douche bags like some of the posters here think that being a dickhead is a good thing for their self preservation.

I was recently downsized for the 3rd time in the last decade, and it has finally taken its toll on me. I have had enough of the jerk off field rides, the role playing POA meetings, and the initial training in New Jersey.

Its not about being a baby or not being able take it anymore.

Instead, it is about self-respect.

Thankfully, I have my nursing degree to fall back on, and I am running back to start my new job, next week.

See ya sales career! No more ass kissing and no more being treated like an elementary kid.

OK “specialty rep” tell me what you sold? My guess is you sell/sold a primary care drugs to “specialists”, like Lipitor to Cardiologists or Prilosec to GI’s, or Prozac to psychologists. That, junior, is not specialty. Specialty is not defined by who you call on rather by what you drug you sell. For instance, if a PC doc regularly prescribes your drug you are not a specialty rep, no matter who you call on. If you sell something that ONLY the actual specialty prescribes ie most oncology agents, than you would be a specialty rep. Like I said I’m guessing you sold a PC drug to a specialists. A short list, but not exhaustive of drugs that are not “speciality”: Antibiotics, PPI’s, Beta Blockers, Pain Management, SSRI’s, Statins, insulin, asthma & allergy drugs,

Next. I’ve been in this business for 18 years most of it in oncology, in varying roles in national accounts/reimbursement, Rep, DM, RSD and training…what about you sport? I’m guessing Big Pharma “Specialty Rep”?

Tell me, what is not real about this business? Reps can make over $200K a year, that is pretty real money? Many people in this industry made big money on options and grants so that is pretty real. What, do you think selling software, or HVAC systems, or CT/MR, or anything else is more real? Guess again. They are all jobs with the same BS everywhere, the same people you despise exists everywhere. What you are doing is lumping the lowest common denominator together and calling it a fact. Yes at your mass market big pharma company I’m sure you have the 30 something know it all DM’s. I have not worked at a mass market company in 16 years nor do the companies I’ve worked for hire from them. Maybe you would be less bitter if you got out…

I get it, your job sucks, you have call reporting, sample inventories field ride-a-longs, role playing, micro-management, PIP programs, and name tags on your ties. I get why you are blinded by bitterness. It is understandable. My question is why do you stay in this industry? If you have a “real” skill set why not profit from it in a more “real” business? Instead you just bitch on Café Pharma and pontificate on how you know everything and that you are too good for this and that…but yet you stay?

Lastly is reading comprehension not your thing? I didn’t say that the industry hasn’t changed or that their aren’t’ ahole DM’s out there. My point was all you people do is bitch(squawk) about it on CP yet stay to endure it at your jobs. You all must be masochists! If it sucks that bad, and the industry is not “real”, and you are managed by jerks why in the world would you stay??? If you have an Ahole DM or you work for a company that promotes Aholes to DM than why don’t you leave? Why would you want to work for an Ahole or a company that fosters and promotes Aholes? I don’t get it! Just leave. If you are as talented and experienced as you claim than you should be working at the great biotech’s where none of this BS is tolerated…but alas that would require you leaving your comfy little nest and free you from griping and ripping on people on Café Pharma.

Amen. To the above poster. You are 100% correct in this view. These are the very ones that ruined a once great industry and career.

Yeah it’s the ahole reps and managers that ruined a once great industry and career.

It has nothing to do with the big drug companies creating “me too” drugs instead of investing R&D dollars into innovating novel therapies. It wasn’t the reps or managers that over hired and introduced POD selling and “presentation scripts” in the 1990’s. Nah it has nothing to do with fledging pipelines, and all the M&A’s of the last decade that changed the business. It was all the DM’s and Rep’s fault!!!

Truly in your case ignorance is bliss…

appreicate the post, even though I don't agree with all of it.

Anyway, most people stay and take the abuse because the job pays good.

As for other sales jobs and their skill sets, get over yourself. If you have a good work ethic, have good presentation skills, and good interpersonal skills, you can do good in almost any sales jobs.

Sales is not very complicated when you break it down, and I can say that with great confidence because I have 7 family members that have all done well in medicals, telecommunications, food, picture framing, pharmaceuticals, finance, and chemical sales...

mostly because they work hard and are assertive.
