Merck gets 10:30 to 2:30 from me...That is it!

You can quit Merck and work on your highly profitable 1099 job. Don't justify your cheating by saying Merck screws you and so it is okay. Don't rationalize it as a payback either.

Instead, I'll continue to rape Merck for its free money. I'll use Merck's RFM money to pay for the lunches, I'll drive Merck's car to every appointment and I'll do it all on Merck's time. I love being in business for myself and having someone else pay me free extra money and give me a car and expense account! Thank you, Merck!! That karma is a real bitch, huh?

This has been the best year of my life. I'm the happiest Merck rep on the planet. If my idiot coworkers had half a brain, they'd also be pulling in twice as much income and have a complete sense of job satisfaction. Instead, they miserably bitch and moan in their horrid existence. Dummies.

Oh, no, DTC doesn't work at all. That's why no one is doing it. I can't remember ever seeing a DTC ad...except for every time I open any magazine or watch any TV show.

Idiot.

Everyone is doing it as an adjunct to direct to medical promotion - this includes having reps. That's the key..If you break down the real of DTC impact it may provide name recognition and possibly just a little more. After all...the patient must speak to the doctor about the choice for them. For the wise and educated, slick promotions and colorful pictures and pills don't make for treatment choice. It still comes down to efficacy, safety and coverage..

btw....name a few major consumer or medical products companies without reps.

this person totally gets it...If all Merck reps were smart, they would do the same thing to get ahead...Use Merck's resources for your own business, and give Merck the minimum you can to keep your job, and keep things like the RMF money, car, and other things you can use for your own business.

Merck doesn't care about you and scams you every day..Scam them back people...maybe then they will wake up, and start treating their reps better like they used to back in the 80s...

FU MERCK!

Merck's good days are behind it. They have become the company with neither a soul nor a future.

This is EXACTLY why I began the 15x15 movement a couple years ago. We need to ask ourselves "Are things better here now than they were a few years ago?" The answer to that is NO, things are not better, they are much worse. Here are just a few examples:

1. Paltry raises over the past few years. For many reps, their raises were BELOW 1%.
2. Reduced bonus
3. No more NMIP points.
4. Reduced cell phone reimbursements..
5. No more trips.

I saw this all coming and I'm sad to say it's finally here. Merck no longer cares about us. They haven't for years. I figured this out some time ago and decided that I no longer care about them either.

We are always being told to "run our business like it's out own". OK Merck, I will. If this was my business and my income was being reduced, I will no longer be spending all of my RFM money on lunches. I will find ways to keep most of it for myself to make up for the loss of income and those shitty raises.

I will reduce my "hours of operation" to match the reduced overhead investment that Merck is making in me. In short, I will drastically cut the hours that I spend in the field each week. If they reduce the bonus, NMIP points, and don't give decent COLA raises, it is clear they don't care about me and my family. Why should I care about them?

I will also be reducing my time on the phone talking with co workers, management and with conference calls. If they reduced our reimbursement for phones, they can't expect me to pay out of pocket for hours and hours of additional minutes per month.

Once you step back and see what they are doing to each one of us, it is very easy to make this progression towards the 15x15 lifestyle. I am WAY happier now than I was a few years ago. Heck, my manager even has hinted to me that he really doesn't care anymore either. He just wants us to make him look ok in the eyes of our DCO.

Hop on the 15x15 train and ENJOY. We are filling up fast but there are seats still available!

Cry me a river.
1. You are employed ( barely)
2. You have no were else to go because you have no marketable/ transferable skills.
3. You're screwed.

I come no where close to four Merck hours per day. I'm working a 1099 position on Merck's time and using their RFM $ and company car. I've nearly matched my Merck base salary with the 1099 income after only one year!

Any guilt from me? Not a chance. Merck has screwed thousands of us over. Payback is a bite in the shorts. It's poetic justice.

FU MERCK

Ok, we can narrow this down a little bit as to who posted..
You're definitely over 40 or maybe even 50.
Young guys don't call underwear "shorts"
God, you sound like my father.

Don't feel sorry for me. Yes, I am employed and cashing those checks from Merck every month and will continue to do it for as long as I can. In addition to that, I have other revenue coming in as well.

Please don't believe that I don't have marketable skills that are transferable. I transfered my skill set outside of Merck already in exchange for additional dollars some time ago. It seems pretty obvious to me that Merck no longer wants my skill set based on THEIR actions and decisions recently.

Please don't for a minute think that I am screwed. It's this company that is screwed. I have means, another revenue stream coming in and tons of free time to do what I damn well please. Lots of cash, free time and good health is a wonderful combination!

I really don't understand the OP giving Merck from 10:30 to 2:30. Really? That's far too much time to give them. Believe me, you can thrive by giving them much, much less!

Keep on talking loser. We think we know who you are. Don't be shocked when your manage starts to ask you to do a bunch of special projects. I'm sure I will find you soon and fire your lazy ass.

Over 40? I crossed that bridge many moons ago. I've learned enough to know when things are a sham and Merck is a sham from top to bottom. It wasn't always that way, but that's what it's been reduced to.

I'd bet your father is a wise man. You should wise up, too. Merck isn't going to be there for any of us later, so look out for yourself. I intend to leave my grandkids a fortune, all of it earned on Merck time. And I'm not referring to my Merck salary.

Sounds like you have it all figured out. It's curious that with your "skill set, revenue stream" that you still feel the need to keep the Merck job. This vast revenue that you brag so often about must not come close to your Merck income.
Be that as it may, I know the strong sense of entitlement you merckies feel.
Everything you always complain about are only perks, extras.
Wait until you have to buy your own car, insurance, maintenance.
Your own computer.
Replace health insurance with cobra.
Exerience the constant rejection inside and outside the industry with only Merck on your résumé.
Try and replace your Merck salary and hours for a full day for honest pay.
No, if you had it all figured out and could replace your Merck salary with whatever fiction you pass onto CP you would already be gone.
You and your fellow 15's are only disgruntled blowhards.
Life is randomly unfair-thus fair.

Don't you love CP and social media sites were people just come out and advertise that they aren't working? Then these same people bellyache and are surprised when they get laid off. If I was management I wouldn't say a word during your firings. I would just pull up these posts and the 15x15 posts as if to say "see you don't work anyway." Why would management treat you whiney part timers with any thing but contempt? You people are so stupid. Go ahead and write some more about how much you don't work. It's called " cutting off your nose to spite your face."

most of us figured things out a long Time ago and decided to get them before they got us. I am no worried about a thing. As a matter of fact, time seems to be going by quite nicely, no hassles and if severance is in the cards for the future even better.

What makes you think you'll get severance beyond WARN? Or insurance beyond COBRA? Or that your UE benefits will be paid unchallenged? You better have at least 6 mon. Salary put aside. It'll take you at least a year to find comparable pay, if you ever do. But keep doing 10-2 then you make an easy target.

"Get them" what does that mean? Boy you are naively stupid if Merck notices your actions one way or the other. "Them" was here a long time before you came around and will be here a long time after you (soon) leave.
