It just means that the old crony is old, lacking a member of any consequence and exhibits an incurable version of MCCS, or mini corpus cavernosum syndrome for which there is no cure nor treatment.

Bet you are glad that you asked?

I posted Ms. Ryan's article because it was a great depiction of signs & symptoms of a fear-based workplace.

I'll address these other posts following the article. I have no idea who is posting what, and under what alias. If you ask 20 different phadia employees who is posting all this randomness, you'll get 20 different answers. I do know that it is not a CSC who is posting these heinous things, so it has to be management. Which manager is doing it, or a combination is immaterial. It is so unprofessional and will contribute to the downfall of this organization. Someone else posted: what could possibly be the motivation for such immaturity?! I agree with that poster, it is so bizarro that no rationale human being could even come up with an answer for it.

My motivation is very simple: point out the obvious about Phadia's fear-based culture in an attempt to wake up the shopkeepers to the reality. I've not been very successful, but I tried because I think there is potential for this company.

As Ms. Ryan stated fear-based workplaces "...shut down our ability to think creatively, collaborate and bring passion to the job". When employees have no passion for their work you might as well just close the shop and throw away the keys. Now, what is up with all this talk about super glue?

Very true and well written! But what is a "bizzaro"?

" it is so bizarro that no rationale human being could even come up with an answer for it."

Thinking that you may have meant "bizarre" but not sure. Not having had dinner yet perhaps a chocolate covered bizzaro would tide some of us over until we could launch into our pasta putanesca fruiti with camarrones later on. Yes, we are told that the bizarro is a form of canolli but without the choc. chips inside . . . . . . just glued to the outside. Mama mia you mak'in me hungry!

You hit the nail on the head! It has nothing to do with "what". There is never any leadership when a small outfit is involved. Small outfits are a distraction and makes the brain and eyes wander into areas unfathomable to most human imaginations. Contrarily, most alien brains weather the small outfit storm and can function normally. Saw a pink small outfit once and could not think afterwards . . . . . lost my job because of a lack of fixation skills on the job. Could only fixate on that small outfit.

You are correct in identifying the culprit here . . . . . . the small outfit, and those in pink tend to present the most crisis in leadership. Frankly no leadership can be found when the small outfit presents itself.

Can't agree more! Mine wore a frilly frock and totally mezmerized all who witnessed that small outfit. It was a combination of mauve and chartreuse . . . . . . such a great combination. All were looking to see what was underneath. Consequently we lost our focus, or jobs and our wives! Things could have been worse for sure! At least my musk ox of a wife is gone!

Poster above discussing "pasta putanesca", did you mean Pasta Puttanesca? Not sure, but could you clarify? por favor? Pasta Puttanesca has an interesting story behind it's name.

Although I love the Italian chef, Giada De Laurentiis, she resembles someone that I know well. Quite the little powerhouse she is.

Love her too! Giada that is. My wife never lets me watch her on TV because the boney maronie kicks in and then she asks . . . . . . . "Why don't you ever get the boney for me"? If my wife could fix the pasta puttanesca like Giada does then we'd have something to talk about. Would love to stomp grapes with Giada one of these days! Would turn purple just to have the priviledge!

Let us all remember what happened on Sept. 11th, 2001. I remember that day vividly. I was working as a manager and one of my employee's told me what had happened. We shut down the office so employee's could make sure their families were not impacted.

The other above post. Giada resembles someone I know but is also a relative (of Giada). Very powerful family.

Why, would this person be present on this board. Ponder that for a moment. You will have your answer clear as day.

Pharmacia Diagnostics was once part of the Pharmacia & Upjohn organization back in the late 90's and early 2000's. Then P&U became Pharmacia Corporation, essentially shoving Upjohn under the bus. Pharmacia failed and was bought by Pfizer and then the Pharmacia name disappeared. The diagnostics unit of Pharmacia was sold by Pfizer as they did not want to be involved with diagnostics any longer.

Ever since that sale Pharmacia Diagnostics (Phadia) in the US has been in limbo . . . . . . bought and sold numerous times as no one know what to do with Phadia. Phadia to this day hangs in limbo and treading water. Why? Because the company bases it's sole existence on a blood test for in-vitro allergy (ICap, RAST) which is neither sensitive, nor specific. Plus it is way too expensive for the useless results it provides.

Now you know Phadia's history and its chance of survival here in the US.

Your history lesson leaves out the Thermo Fisher purchase that finally puts Phadia in a place where it can perform for the long term.

ICAP is sensitive and specific, read a journal

So, Pharmacia throws Upjohn under the bus and then is in turn thrown under that bus by Pfizer. In the foreseeable future, poor phadia will be thrown underneath that bus by Fisher. Y'all heard it first on the CE bathroom wall.

But what was the real reason Pfizer Inc. got rid of Pharmacia?

Thank you for your insights poster 51.

Now, uninformed poster 52, Fisher inherited the same problems that Pfizer had (sort of). You seem like the medical journal reading type, read a little bit of Business Week. Phadia is a fear-based culture and those never survive. Read Liz's article about fear-based cultures that I posted.

In addition, the crap you shovel at PCP clinicians about icap is completely biased.

Thermo Fisher will wonder why they ever got into bed with Phadia. It may take them a few months or perhaps a couple of years to figure it out. Plain and simple . . . . . . . . Phadia is a losing proposition and it looks like Fisher will just have to learn the hard way. No matter how hard one compresses it, one cannot turn a turd into gold . . . . . . not even silver, nor bronze.

The person/s at Fisher responsible for this acquisition will certainly be fired in short order.

If the culture changes, everything may.

If the culture changes, everything may.

Of course, a trust-based culture is what makes a great workplace. Phadia, as I've pointed out, is one based on fear and mistrust.

Here is my top-nine list about my experiences at phadia (sorry Liz, no time for ten and I like to be original):

1) Appearances. So important to play the "fake role", which has nothing to do with the quality of your work. Let us all gossip about someone that threatens us, and tell their boss all about it. Not even be mature enough to confront the person, but rather make up some stupid story. Of course, your idiot butt smooching boss believes the made-up story.

2) Backstabbers. Yes, I had quite a few knives in my back. It is a wonder I didn't die from hypovolemic shock.

3) Numbers. Everything on those willow group surveys are basically lies, damned lies and statistics.

4) Rules. My boss had so many rules in place, I couldn't breath, and thank god I don't have asthma. I was still dealing with hypovolemic shock from all the knives in my back.

I needed fifty rules to buy a pen. It got so bad, I just bought work items myself than deal with it.

5) Brainstorm. What? at phadia...only so I can steal your idea as my own.

6) Information. Is hoarded. The only place to look for it is on cafepharma. How idiotic is that?

7) Self-serving phadia brown-nosers. They will do anything to get a promotion and play dirty.

8) Fear. Phadia managers have already made their decisions about their plans for employees in the dark. Easy to predict and quite obvious to astute individuals. You know their game before they do.

9) Be coachable. What the heck does that mean anyways?

Can the culture change? Yes. Will it? Doubtful. Everyone is too steeped in the fear- based culture.

Prove me wrong and I hope you will.
