Date of Comp Change to 8%

How at 8 % can they possibly hope to keep quality reps? Anyone with relationships will take their business for higher points. None of these positions are filled when tenured reps leave. How is that a sustainable business model for the future? At some point heads will have to roll for the complete disaster that this merger has become.

What do you think "cost to serve" means? It's the catchphrase that's been introduced to validate the coming commission slash. Get ready for it.

^^^^Well he is Gregoris's little lap dog so I guess you could say pooch, but he did poach him. If you were attempting to be the grammar police then you failed miserably. Now, go find me a spring for my drill sleeve you soon to be replaced by a non HS graduate loser.

again... so excited to see the train fall off the tracks and jjg "the narcissist" fall on his face and all of his cronies that were to scared to stand up to him and "do the right thing". jnj will ruin another great company as they did with cordis, mitek and codman. the writing is on the wall. get out while you still can. if you have any questions about quintiles, ask your local ethicon rep as they went through this a couple of years ago and now comp is at an all time low as well as morale. good luck, get out while you still can!

You mean an 852 spring? It was a slight, not spellcheck.

You need to ask yourself... What is next? Over the last 3 to 4 years, what has been consistent? Change and turmoil. The JNJ executives need to make their mark during their 2 year stint in their position with blatant disregard for the aftermath as it will not matter as they will be in another job. Who is about to complete his 2 year mark? That's correct, Juan-Jose. About 18 months ago, Mitek was intergrated and it was a complete and still is a complete cluster. What happened two years before that, the failed integration of Recon and Joint Reconstruction which was a cluster and distracted the entire organization and was mislead, mismanaged and left us wide open to the competition. Guess what is coming next? The integration of Spine. Do you remember what happened when Mitek was integrated? Pay normalization!! Paycut for Trauma Sales Consultants and Management which led to a pay increase and re-banding for the Mitek team. Guess what will happen when they integrate spine? More AVP upheaval and confusion, less AVPs, more incompetent AVPs, less opportunities for Professional Advancement and another period of focus internally when it should be on the customer. Next, RMs will be displaced and Sales Consultants and customers will have yet another group of stooges to meet your Surgeon and be the next one out of 4 in the last 3 years to make promises and sell futures. And most importantly ANOTHER PAY CUT!!!! I am pretty sure that Spine is making 8% and a company car. And you wonder why their numbers suck. What it means for you is an 8% commission rate and a company car. Good luck in your Hybrid Toyota Camry. Get Out While You Still Can!!!!!!!'

Mostly correct here with the exception of spine, they're getting 10% with a growth kicker. Absolute ZERO chance of legacy Synthes personnel getting promoted too. We all have a black mark (even those that have moved to other divisions in MD) and will go no where. Look at SCG. Virtually no AVP leadership from ortho, let alone Synthes (except SD who is 10x smarter than any Ethicon/Pharma SCG AVP douche who provides absolutely no value to the field.)

How long before some of the dead weight regional managers and AVP's are let go to offset the losses in business? These are the people who should truly be in fear of losing their jobs. They bring nothing to the bottom line anymore. Honestly, they never did.

Just now hearing layoffs on the Spine sales side beginning this week. Internal corporate cuts are reported to hit in Raynham as well. Many of the good sales talent has already left for competitors. Terrible management at the top, a total lack of trust in field management, surgeon customers see a total absence of innovation. They only have their poor corporate culture to blame as NuVasive will soon leapfrog DSS as the number 2 company in spine. JNJ will continue to hide behind the guise of their "Credo", when in reality everyone knows, it is a piece of paper that is no longer worth the ink it is printed on

COS is a big issue. Hearing the rumbles that the Surgical Innovation Team on the Spine sales side is being heavily scrutinized again and will this time be affected. Large salaries with no ties to bottom line numbers. The core sales teams own all the relationships. SIT is a bunch of managers with no direct reports who are making RSM money without any of the RSM headaches. My SIT guy works hard and has been there for me, but specialty sales is never a good model for longevity.

I was just recently introduced to this site by a fellow consultant. After perusing over some of the material, it is striking how much of it turned out to be correct. If that pattern continues and this 8% plan is introduced, there will be massive upheaval. I have been a (happy) SC for over 12 years and have built a multi-million dollar territory and many great surgeon relationships that have turned into some of my closest friends outside of the OR. But I have to say, as happy as I am, if this 8% rate change is true, I will be leaving for a competitor and attempting to bring as many of my docs with me as possible. For whichever sales leader developed the theory that that we SC's drive no real value and don't have real relationships, I can tell you this: if you want to see your theory be proven painfully wrong (for the company), then institute that new Comp plan. You will find that many more guys like me will abandon the company in droves and will take large chunks of business with them. I realize that many think this is just "hot air", so I won't try to convince you otherwise. Will just say this: proceed at your own peril.

The fact that this company paid handsomely always meant we had top talent locked in and loyal. It is a shame to see that eroding. Good luck to all.

Seriously, is JnJ just this stupid or is there actually a plan. Basic economics. If you want to control variable costs, start with 1.) Strategic customer group. Glorified contract negotiators made up of old RM's. That said....what the hell do the RM's do if they arent negotiating contracts? 2.) SIT = what the hell is their job description? 3.) Extremeities specialist. Aren't we all fucking extremity specialists? 4.) Craig Jones. Because according to other threads that guy just sits around, makes shit up, and lies to cover his own ass. He's the "director" of strategic integration. This sounds like he promoted himself to a job title he just made up. Does the company even still pay him or is it an Officespace situation?

The fact that it takes going to 8 % to leave makes one question what the heck your thinking. If you do have the relationships you profess than why not take those and make 30-40 points elsewhere. Many, many very smart people have seen the light and are now finally seeing their true value at competitors. Get out while you still have any leverage left. It's closing quickly.

If this is true that commissions are being cut to 8%, I'm gone. They can pay some recent college grad 8%. Would guess I could take 75% or so of business with me. The college kid would be able to hold on to the other 25%. For now.

The word is out on Synthes. The vultures are circling their carcass. It's time to eat.

EMERGENCY CONFERENCE CALL...........

I had to listen to a conference call the other day that my manager sent me an email about due to the Cafepharma report that we were going to 8%. He told us that this was just a alarmist post created by out competition. The funny this is that me or my colleagues had no idea what he was talking about. After the call I went onto Cafepharma and discovered the thread and the hundreds of complaints that I have had for months.

I do not know if our commission will drop to 8% but our pay is definitely decreasing. I have to pay 60k out of my pocket to pay for an idiot quintiles rep. My market share has been decreasing by other companies with great products catching up to Synthes. I still have great relationships and I work my ass off but there has to be an easier way to make a buck and the constant pressure and stress is taking its toll....I am disappointed that it appears Synthes does not care about highly trained professional consultants. They seem to be heading towards reps that have no clinical experience but are merely a body in the room. They are cheaper and look better on a balance sheet...SAD

NYC too. outside of HSS and Cornell, NYC is done. No talent, surgeons noticing, losing contracts. Even HSS new chief of Trauma is a S/N guy so.......will see what happens. All the residency programs dont know what Synthes used to be and the major role it had in the past developing their talents.
