Geron

Leadership 101 or How to lie like the Jims. Please join our resident dumb bitch HR "leader" as we explore how to tell people one thing, change your mind shortly thereafter, hire outside consultants and then ignore their advice, and institute your own made up stupid plan. In the end learn to, "just blame sales!" Graduates of this program will be qualified to interview as Walmart greeters or Chick-fil-A parking lot ordering associates.

Jim Z is an absolute LIAR. He took credit for IC revision. This only happened because he and Jim H got caught and were forced to change this to align with actual potential and market share. Do not believe a single word from him or Jim H. They were forced to come clean. They are not on your side and did NOTHING for you. Until they are gone, keep looking for new jobs.
Every time they speak, they lose the field more and more. They actually put some dude who’s been here for 2 weeks on the call to roll out IC. Some for advice for Jeff P, when the Jims try to convince you that adjusting targets is being done as a favor to the field, know that it is not a favor,. It is them handing you the clean up for massive and illegal problem they created. Oh and yeah, don’t ever tell the field you’ve done them a favor and have made some exceptions to the IC plan as a kind gesture. You didn’t. Geron is being sued up the ass and under a legal spotlight for misleading shareholders and over inflating targets… courtesy of Chip and your pals, the Jims.

What you should have acknowledged was how the plan went from 15k lives in January to 7k lives and why the budget was set for overinflated indications and signed off by HR, CFO and more. No favors were done today and no one is dumb enough to believe that Geron just happens to be so nice that they’d voluntarily cut their goals in half.

1000% correct. These lying jokers have zero idea of how to run a biotech and more importantly motivate a sales team. They created a terrible IC plan predicated on 1st line sales, lied about it, and now think they can pass off themselves off as caring about the sales team by throwing some crumbs our way. I hate these fuckers more every time I hear their lying voices.
HF Guy again. So they did revise the IC plan targets down? Do you guys feel that the new targets are realistic enough? I.e. will you guys get paid as long as you're doing a reasonably good job w/ capturing post-luspatercept & ESA patients w/ high transfusion burden?

at this point we are all looking for other jobs. Many in second round of interview process. You can't tell people to F-off and then say, "I didn't mean it!"

Well considering they randomly covered this incredibly important topic using a worthless reoccurring optional call series that Ziegler created months ago that most reps don’t join because they are driving in the field or at office appts, most of us could not tell you what the IC plan is.

Not a single rep reacted verbally. No one trusts them.

No agenda or notification sent to the field ahead of time notifying us of a call about IC revision.

Couldn’t even ask our regional director because it was news to them also and they had not been given any info prior to or after the call.

Compounded incompetence that continues daily from Ziegler and Hassard.

Oh and they thought it be a great time to hire that they are hiring more reps and another Regional Director…with zero change in indication. More money wasted each day these 2 idiots are left here to drain this company dry. They’ll find a way to tell you this as a good idea. Just wait. They are flailing.

Shall we go on or is it clear that Geron leadership has officially failed?

Everyone is done with the lies and the incompetence.

Geron doesn’t have a rep problem, they have a leadership problem. One is much easier to fix than the other…

The scumbag Jims f'ed the sales team so they deserve the lackluster results they get. Dawn has zero idea of how angry the sales team is but she'll find out post 4/22.

what happens on 4/22?
It’s not “on” 4/22. They said “post” 4/22

Reps sign on bonus doesn’t have to be paid back after 1 year. That date marks the year since hire.

Ziegler and Hassard overinflated targets for Q1 to include non indicated lives due to their incompetence. They were told their numbers were wrong, but they decided not to listen and instead intimidate people into complying with their illegal and idiotic choices. They are only adjusting targets for Q2 back to reality (maybe) and offering a measly 15% increase above actual attainment for Q1, but not adjusting Q1 inflated targets. Basically half of the field gets royally screwed bc the targets were wrong to begin with. They refuse to come clean about what they did although everyone already knows.

In their never ending quest to bankrupt Geron, they are going to hire more reps and call it an “expansion”. It is not an expansion. It’s a desperate attempt to start hiring reps to backfill those who may leave. They’ll try and spin it and say it was needed bc territories are too large and that’s why we could not hit the inflated targets. Another lie. Just overpaid spin doctors who actually also suck at creating believable excuses bc at the end of the day, they are liars and they keep on using Geron to fund their lies and incompetence. They will continue to hire more liars and puppets who have no morals that will do whatever they are told. Isn’t it funny how they keep hiring people they know from the jobs where they got fired?

It’s the boards problem now, but when the board is stupid enough to believe the bs they are being fed, they deserve to be in the situation they are in. Until they get rid of Ziegler and Hassard, the road to success is impossible. Also,
Fire the HR lady who keeps pretending like she didn’t contribute to the problem. She’s good at playing dumb.

It’s really sad. Geron had the chance to be another amazing biotech company. They hired the best of the best in the industry. Reps who have 25, 30, 35 years experience. The RBDs are spectacular. People who have providers on speed dial. The executives are running it into the ground. Anyone who has been with a startup, rare disease company understands national goals should be in place for at least two years. Geron screwed those who did well last year. People who brought in millions and millions of dollars. They rewarded people who barely worked last year bc they knew they would get low goals, once the goals went to individual goals. The goals are unattainable, especially for those who killed it last year. The ones that kept us going as a company.

More reps won’t matter. Geron will probably hire people who have no to low hematology/rare disease and zero relationships.

This company is a sinking ship.

I hate this company. I wish the exec team would all perish in a fiery plane crash. JZ and JH are possibly the most incompetent and corrupt sales mgrs (can't say leader because they couldn't lead a dog on a leash). I hope they both die off heart attacks after eventually getting fired.

As one of the few remaining employees who hasn’t been canned I am aghast at the incompetence of this company and the remaining managers. We’re in deep trouble so someone decided to hold a workshop where employees blamed people who left almost a year ago for their screw up’s. You can’t make this shit up. One person even blamed a manager who promoted him and another blamed someone whose strategy would have guaranteed success. JZ is such a total dolt he could not be any worse. I am prepared to be let go soon and have legal representation. Any losers who would join this sorry ass excuse for a company needs a psychiatrist evaluation

OMG I was thinking the same thing. I mean blaming execs who have been gone for such a long time is hiding their inabilities. Paula, Jeff, JZ, they’re coming for you soon and guess what you won’t get severance as you’re all idiots.

JZ is nothing but an incompetent finger pointer. The problem is now that he's got himself in a pickle. He's not use to working with an experienced field force. In his past jobs if he was put in this role prior to launch, nobody would work for him or even interview. Most of the reps that have worked for him in the past were mediocre at best, they weren't high performing. He would run off the best ones but the others had limited opportunities. He didn't have the turnover like he's about to see here. He actually has good reps at Geron and everyone of them is about to leave. This has never happened to him and I can't wait till my official offer from the 2 different companies I've interviewed with. What's JZ gonna do then? How will that look to the street when an entire sales force leaves? The hire of this one idiot has destroyed a potentially great company in the making. Get your popcorn, this is gonna get good!

Obviously there are still some intelligent people who can see through Geron’s guise. Get out while you still can. As a financial analyst I can state that there isn’t any chance in the world to save this company. It’s hard to believe that in the beginning of the end the company would accept Geroners blaming departed executives for their ills.

Do the "best of the best" reps really want to sell glorified 3rd line supportive care for an indication that is undertreated?
Obviously you don't know the industry very well. Many small start ups have these type indications to get themselves on the market. The goal of the company "with additional clinical trials" is to move up to first line therapy. The FDA will allow in that setting due to unmet need. The companies use the revenue from that space to help fund further trials to move into first line. Everybody wants a blockbuster but as there are proven therapies in the first line you have to prove yourself in further line setting. That's why you need good reps to sell in this setting because it's not easy. Small startups who understand oncology know they need the best but to get the best you have to pay them. Good reps love selling in this environment because there is typical high reward. You will get nowhere with Reach and Frequency in this space.

What JZ has done has taken the High Reward off the table, goals that if you even hit them you don't make any money. He thinks we can be first line without the clinical data to prove it. That's a "No No". Good reps with autonomy to do their job get paid well for their efforts. Micromanaging, Reach and Frequency, and little incentive will make a potential great company into a company that falls to the wayside.

This absolutely nails it!
