non-compete clause

I' m considering a change in outside sales and wondering what the non-compete clause is for DVM. If there is one, please describe it and if DVM is known to enforce it. I don't want to get locked in to a company that ends up being a mistake. Thanks.

No you don't want to become involved with this company ... take it from an ex-employee. The warehouse mistakes are too numerous to mention, the inside reps are not the best because they are poorly trained .. not their fault let me make that clear, the credit department is unforgiving and difficult to work with, not only do they take money from you when your accounts are past due but they would like to take money from you if your account pays by credit card, you will put more money in your gas tank then they will give you for expences .... need I go on.
Oh and about the non-compete, it is a tight one and yes they will go after you.
STAY AWAY ... STAY AWAY ...

I second this statement... I as a current employee spending my days looking for a job can tell you to stay clear...

Run...Run...Run for your life. Most of the long term reps are looking for another job and loop holes in the non-compete. And they do come after you sometimes its seems like just for the hell of it. The only ones making money is management. And they are idiots. The new reps don't make anything. Can't even afford gas to visit all the clinics. The inside reps just got pay cuts again so they aren't motivated to work the clinics for us and most of them will be leaving soon. Go with a more ethical company this one is shady. Know any lawyers that can fight the non-compete?

Please don't even consider this company for your own reputation and sanity. Work at McDonalds first and be proud. They are an industry joke. Check around. They will lie to get you hooked and then keep you from getting another job thru their shady ways. DVMR takes customer rebates out of YOUR commission, can't ship without mistakes, and makes you bear all the burden. The ISR's are poorly trained, I agree (not their fault) but all of this makes your workday an uphill battle. Move on.

You can't call on any accounts for 1 year that you serviced while at the company within 18 months of your termination.

That pretty sums up the most important part. The rest of it is pretty standard. Can't use their pricing to gain an unfair advantage, can't use any paperwork, account lists, blah blah blah. And you can't recruit any former coworkers for a year after your termination. That about sums it up if I remember correctly.

You really would be better off working for McDonalds until you can find a decent company to work for. I would rather flip burgers than work for this poorly run and managed outfit. The only plus of working for them is someday you'll be able to draw unemployment and not worry about non-competes because with the way they are managed they are doomed! Take it from me, I signed a non-compete with them once and it was the worst mistake I ever made. I still have to work for these a**holes

Don't listen to this person. They sound dishonest. Probably someone who screwed their employer.

This person sounds dishonest why? Because DVMR doesn't want to treat their reps right so in turn they have to make life a living hell after they leave DVMR... Please DVMR is so clueless that you could give ride along to their other reps, like I have and DVMR still has not find out...
Fuck this company... I wasted almost three years with them, believe me I'm glade I'm done with them, oh and its been less then a year since I've left and still no DVMR non compete on my front door...

I signed a non compete once and while it was a pain to leave the industry for 18 months, I had given my word and signed a legal document not to compete. I didn't want to be looking over my shoulder every day or worry about a lawsuit and since I am an ethical person I didn't compete until my non compete term had expired. There are unethical people out there but I can honestly say I am not one of them. I have to live with myself. I didn't compete more for ethical reasons anyway than a lawsuit but I wouldn't want to worry about getting sued.

It's more of an ethics thing to me. If you sign a non compete you should not compete until your non compete is up. If your word doesn't mean anything then you have nothing.

I signed one of these none competes once and I left the industry until my non compete ended. I didn't want to always be looking over my shoulder worrying about being sued. Plus since I signed something agreeing not to compete I wanted to keep my word.

Company person!! Just like DVM, they have always told us the truth, NOT.

How is it possible to be loyal toward a company that has lied to us on a continuos basis and will keep doing so. Their word means NOTHING!!!

I'm a rep just like you, however I firmly believe that just because someone treats me poorly doesn't mean I have to return the favor. I will be judged for my actions on this earth and they will be judged for their actions. I am fully responsible for my own actions and they are responsible for their actions. The people who you badmouth sign your paycheck on pay day. If not for them how would you put food on the table? Haven't you ever heard of don't bite the hand that feeds you? No company is perfect Be glad you have a job. Many people in this world don't have it as good as you do.
