Right, the old line "just be happy you have your health, or your job..." You fill in the blank... Listen up folks and DVMR those days are over and many companies are taking progressive steps forward to make a work life more enjoyable and realistic... The day of just be happy you have a job is over that was Dale Carnegie days, days of the Industrial Revolution when unemployement numbers ranged in the 30-40%... Now its what, under 4 or 5%...
Give me a break
Couldn't agree more with the above poster except the unemployment rate is closer to 9% at this point. Current TW employee here, I guess AHI now. TW had better management than DVMR but the typical problems of a small distributor - warehouse errors, constant inside rep errors (no repercussions for them!), and being out of stock constantly of core products.
Been in the business 10 years or so, good at it, and never been this unsuccessful at keeping business. Keep going out there opening new accounts only to lose them due to order errors and stock issues. We're not talking an error here or there. I somehow have managed to keep one really good customer with an 80% error rate on orders. The others are giving the old, "We really like you, we even like your pricing, we just can't deal with all the errors, keeping track of returns and credits, etc.". I'm the third rep in the territory to face this BS and all have been experienced reps that were successful in previous companies. Its a constant challenge when the issues above are always selling against you. Open accounts, get them to buy, and the inside reps or warehouse will screw you over 80% of the time. Response from management when you tell them this, Well every rep since the company started has had those challenges... And the best rep writes $120k a month...
They always tell us how intelligent, experienced, and awesome we are that hitting their unrealistic goals should be easy. My response is that we have some of the best business people in the industry, fix the warehouses, fix the order entry errors.
All of our people worth a shit ended up here due to layoffs and the economy, its not a place you go. Don't get me wrong, the people are great, management is great to us in the field, doesn't micromanage. The pay is shitty and most of us are looking for other jobs and just riding it out until something opens up.
Point... Run, don't walk from this opportunity. If they were to fix their issues and enable salespeople to sell rather than spend their time apologizing, this could be a really solid company.
