Ophthalmology not a priority?

I wish the SS Xiidra would sink a little faster too. I would love the severance and a little time off. Come dump this shitty division already. It's embarrassing when docs and other reps ask us over and over what's going with eye care and Xiidra.

Dear management,

You are deceitful, lying assholes! Many of us were asked by our ABLs at the end of March to share our tentative time off for June because there would likely be a meeting in June. This was on the heels of returning from yet another pointless meeting, Chicago. I don't even think I had gotten my Chicago drycleaning back before they started talking about the next useless meeting.

The point of submitting this potential June PTO was to notify management prior to the meeting invite, therefore there would be no problem if it coincided with the meeting. Myself, and several others, looked ahead to our June calendars, unsure exactly of what time we might plan to take off, but quickly pieced together some time to essentially protect ourselves. Then what do you fucking jerks do? They completely ignore us and go ahead and plan a meeting in July the week after a holiday week! Are you serious? How dirty can you get? Last year you pulled us away in August, a time for many, when kids were either going back to school, leaving for college or when families were taking that last week of summer vacation. Now you're pulling us out of the field in July for another completely useless meeting because of an updated sales aid that will have nothing new actually. So we're going to be out of the field for essentially 2 weeks. The holiday week and the meeting week. But we've got a $6 million gap to close or we're probably all out of jobs. I mean a monkey knows that that is bad business to be out of the field for nearly 2 weeks. Not to mention a complete waste of money to have these meetings. These upper managers are a bunch of clowns who don't deserve to manage a Dollar Tree store.

I'm in awe of the inconsiderateness of this management team. They preach about culture and work life balance (Tad had the balls to tell this division we work too hard!) and then they pull this shit. Amidst all the rumors of eye care being on the outs and them giving us no useful information, they have the audacity to ask us to travel in the height of summer to this waste of time meeting. Just because you haven't put in PTO doesn't mean you don't have summer plans and commitments. GO FUCK YOURSELVES YOU FUCKING LOSERS. Sorry you either have no family or friends other than at work so you have nothing better to do than go to a meeting in July. Get some fucking nerve to speak up on behalf of your teams and say this doesn't make sense and it isn't necessary. We can accomplish what we need to and save money by doing this virtually or locally. Get a damn clue people!

Sorry to rant on here folks, but I've only been with Novartis for 2 years and I've been nothing but disgusted by this division since coming here. Needless to say I'm interviewing and hope to get an offer before this stupid meeting!

While I agree that these meetings are a complete waste of money, it’s been the same at every company that I’ve been at for over 20 years. Good luck escaping it.

There has been extensive St Mgmt discussion on how to best deploy the talent. Securing R&D progress across the portfolio is a clear priority. With the recent restrictions on Monkey importing and international testing centers closing there is an opportunity to redeploy the group as test subjects. With the educational toys and new standards in caging/feed this should be an acceptable solution.

This is what my manager has asked our team to do. Take a screen shot of your weekly schedule in Veeva and then send it to them on fridays. I wish I was kidding.

I am appalled. That manager should be shitcanned. I am so sorry you have to be subject to such micromanaging baby bullshit. I’ve never heard of any manager asking for that in my career. This manager must have really great glint scores

It is true confirmed by several optha reps. It’s only a few managers but they are indeed asking. Embarrassing
It starts with one manager and spreads. This manager is in the north. Once the rd sees it they ask for everyone to do it. Some managers fight others cave. They are so desperate now that they Re doing everything to protect theirselves. The ax is coming down. Not a matter of if but when. Until then its hunger games. If you think you have security you need to re evaluate your situation.

I can confirm that this is indeed happening on my team. I actually really like our manager but I think they were kind of pressured into doing this. They've tried to make it seem really loose by saying "this isn't a gotcha but just to see how you plan your days." It is absolutely a gotcha. When you legitimately drive 2 hours to get to your first account and your first call isn't until 10am or later you better believe they are looking at that whether you are asked to submit your weekly calendar or not.

This can not be a morale booster

This is such bullshit. Some of our territories are so big that we would have to leave at 7 am and still sit in traffic to make a call by 9.

That’s what they want us to do. I was told by a previous Novartis ABL, “that’s what you’d have to do for any other job.” The difference is that driving, for rural folks, is very much part of our job. I wouldn’t be driving 3 hours to get to “any other job.” I feel like half of what I get paid for is to drive.

Just fake your calls. It’s not that hard. This is the way things have been in pharma for decades.
