Interviewing for Bus Development Manager for Facial Aesthetics

Now with the Pfizer buyout, it is guaranteed the pay will get lower and lower. Long gone are the days for any decent bonus, especially with Pfizer at the helm. Base is 80k and bonus won't be any higher than 35-40k once Pfizer acquires. That is their standard. This is one division you don't want to be a part of as this division will be the worst affected by the merger.

Agree think it may be even lower re bonus $ and goals will be harder to reach @ 100 %

News for youz: No Pfizer entry level manager position bonus plan pays 40K on an 80K base.

Exactly to our point. The reps in the Aesthetic division are used to higher bonuses with a low base. This is a fact: Once Pfizer completes acquisition of Allergan, they will do two things in the Aesthetics division. First, the bonuses will be enormously reduced with a bonus of 30k annually at best. Second, they plan on focusing on the Aesthetic division in which they will increase the sales force just like they would with any primary care field force. Anyone that doesn't believe this are simply trying to fool themselves.

Agreed. There may be a lot of unknowns but incomes will certainly drop dramatically in the aesthetic division. Pfizer doesn't pay bonuses like that and standardizing pay across the board is always done.

Many of us are looking to get out and seek other viable specialty jobs. Aesthetics jus doesn't pay well anymore. Pfizer will make sure of that trust me. I worked there for three years and their bonus payouts are nothing.

How do reps go about detailing or selling injectables to doctors? How different is the call to a regular pharma sales job? Do doctors sign and you leave samples or how does the process work? Wondering if I should stay in pharma (miserable here btw) or switch over the aesthetic injectables.

thanks in advance

this is nothing like "detailing doctors and leaving samples". Much more involved and is truly business development.

Please get over yourself. You're just a Botox pusher. You can label it anyway you want but there is no difference. Anyone can help with the patient "look books" and websites. You are now different and I have news for you. Your bonuses are going to get lower and lower.

You have proved yourself clueless if you think that's what I do. I will worry about my compensation. You worry about your's.

Yes, that is what you do. Don't try and make it anymore complicated than it is. Your job is simple. Make your three office visits and go home. Please don't insult anyone's intelligence trying to make yourself out to be an incredible consultant. You're doing the same shit as everyone else. You sell Botox. Need I say more. Pfizer will replace your over-priced ass eventually.

Sounds like you couldn't get into the aesthetic division and are a little jealous. I guess you get tired of talking about bladders or dry eye all day. Does it make you feel better about yourself to pretend you could do a BDM role and hoping the facial aesthetics team gets their compensation decreased? thats pretty sad. Maybe Santa will bring you a life.

I'm not the OP and I work for Pfizer and I am happy they gave you a dose of reality. It's embarrassing as you tried to insinuate your job was different from all the other divisions. It isn't. You keep throwing out the insults trying as we all see from your last post "tired of talking about bladders or dry eye all day." You're a sales rep and you sell Botox. Well thankfully, your purpose in life will clearly change the world and Botox is so complex that no one could possibly understand the science. Thankfully, you have the elite business acumen that all the offices thrive as you "partner" with these practices. One can only imagine how much of a brain it takes to throw a Botox office party.
You better hope Pfizer doesn't buy your ass because from what I heard from our RBD is the division that will be the most affected will be the aesthetics division. Pfizer will want to saturate the market and will increase the foot traffic by increasing the "sales" force. As the division evolves, your inflated bonuses will be greatly reduced. It will be clear to Pfizer you are no different from the other product sales. You really aren't.

Dear Genuis,
You don't know jack about the FA division or the job. If you did you would know that 1) they just expanded the sales force 2) the FA reps are the lowest paid in comparison to other injectable reps at competitors. No "inflated bonuses" at Allergan! PLEASE stop commenting on a position you know NOTHING about!! Why do you even care????? Go back to your pod and 10 calls a day and don't worry about anyone else. YOU are the one embarrassing yourself!!

I will chime in. It's not a different job at all. Same shit different day. Calling on doctors and finding a way to increase your market share. Call it whatever you'd like, but we all do the same thing. I've been in aesthetics for three years now and can honestly say I think it is easier. The biggest challenge has always been access and physician time and it is much easie in aesthetics. As far as the rest of the buzz words like business development, I am doing the same stuff I always have done by listening to the docs and giving them what they need with a little schmooze on top. For my fellow aesthetic coworkers, your shit does stink just like everyone else.

Please clarify: Are you an Allergan facial injectable rep? And if so, are you paid off increasing your market share?

The part you are misunderstanding is that this position has very little to do with science, and more to do with increasing profits. Nobody said anything about changing the world, and if you understood what "throwing a Botox party" means, you'd be embarrassed you even mentioned it. It's not at all a party, but a business objective to SELL a specific amount of dollars to a number of patients after marketing and recruiting and all sorts of other things I won't go into because you think it's a party instead of a means to a profitable end. And if Pfizer wants to "saturate the market", I have good news for you. Allergan pretty much is the market. The fact that you think in terms of market saturation and market share only show how little you understand. Not saying one is better than the other, but they are most certainly different, and the only people who will ever say they're the same are those who have only been in pharma. Fact.

I especially love how you put quotation marks around "sales" when talking about the aesthetics division. Quick question for you. If my performance is based on a dollar amount and number of units I am required to sell, and your performance is based on how many times you got a signature from someone the company told you to see, why is your job real sales and mine is "sales"? Honest question. Why do you assume pharma sales is more hardcore than aesthetics if you only know your side?
