Ophthalmology not a priority?

Dear management,

You are deceitful, lying assholes! Many of us were asked by our ABLs at the end of March to share our tentative time off for June because there would likely be a meeting in June. This was on the heels of returning from yet another pointless meeting, Chicago. I don't even think I had gotten my Chicago drycleaning back before they started talking about the next useless meeting.

The point of submitting this potential June PTO was to notify management prior to the meeting invite, therefore there would be no problem if it coincided with the meeting. Myself, and several others, looked ahead to our June calendars, unsure exactly of what time we might plan to take off, but quickly pieced together some time to essentially protect ourselves. Then what do you fucking jerks do? They completely ignore us and go ahead and plan a meeting in July the week after a holiday week! Are you serious? How dirty can you get? Last year you pulled us away in August, a time for many, when kids were either going back to school, leaving for college or when families were taking that last week of summer vacation. Now you're pulling us out of the field in July for another completely useless meeting because of an updated sales aid that will have nothing new actually. So we're going to be out of the field for essentially 2 weeks. The holiday week and the meeting week. But we've got a $6 million gap to close or we're probably all out of jobs. I mean a monkey knows that that is bad business to be out of the field for nearly 2 weeks. Not to mention a complete waste of money to have these meetings. These upper managers are a bunch of clowns who don't deserve to manage a Dollar Tree store.

I'm in awe of the inconsiderateness of this management team. They preach about culture and work life balance (Tad had the balls to tell this division we work too hard!) and then they pull this shit. Amidst all the rumors of eye care being on the outs and them giving us no useful information, they have the audacity to ask us to travel in the height of summer to this waste of time meeting. Just because you haven't put in PTO doesn't mean you don't have summer plans and commitments. GO FUCK YOURSELVES YOU FUCKING LOSERS. Sorry you either have no family or friends other than at work so you have nothing better to do than go to a meeting in July. Get some fucking nerve to speak up on behalf of your teams and say this doesn't make sense and it isn't necessary. We can accomplish what we need to and save money by doing this virtually or locally. Get a damn clue people!

Sorry to rant on here folks, but I've only been with Novartis for 2 years and I've been nothing but disgusted by this division since coming here. Needless to say I'm interviewing and hope to get an offer before this stupid meeting!

Your post is spot on! These meetings are a social activity for them and a time to get away from their miserable relationships. Please get some friends, activities and better marriages and leave us alone! We don’t want unnecessary in person meetings. We get mediocre merit increases so we can wast hundreds of thousands of dollars on in person meetings that are a waste of time . GO AWAY

Do what many are doing. Interview for new spots and leave. There is no future for novartis eyecare. There is nothing new on the horizon. Everything they have either tried to develop or buy has flopped. Why by an amblyopia device and a delivery device and then say sorry we didn't think there was a market. They are stockpiling assets to try and make the division more desirable to buy. Its not working.

CRM is in the same boat. We had a five day meeting in January to review a new sales aid. I can't imagine how awful their home lives are that they have to manufacture reasons to leave their families.
I hope the Marriott points are worth it.

Eye care at Novartis is sinking faster than the Titantic. You have 2 options, wait it out and hope they offer a decent severance or actively start interviewing for a new job. There is no point in complaining, these idiots will never hear you. They do not care. The managers are all in panic mode and the upper management is trying hard as hell to put together some kind of deal to dump Xiidra. The problem is they over paid for it. They picked up a few other lame ass products thinking they would have an eye care division to sell off with it but that's not working. Hence, panic mode. I personally don't know if its worth waiting and putting up with all this shit, metrics, screen shots of our weekly Veeva schedules, doing more lunches or running around like food delivery people.

Please elaborate on the “snapshots of weekly veeva schedules”. Not part of EyeCare and I am horrified that someone is taking snapshots. Is it managers or directors? That’s going way too far

I know one manager that asks for it at the end of the day each day. They honestly have no idea how to motivate.

Novartis severance is worth waiting for, even with all the stupid stuff we’re having to put up with. I just wish this ship would sink a little faster!!

This is what my manager has asked our team to do. Take a screen shot of your weekly schedule in Veeva and then send it to them on fridays. I wish I was kidding.
