Performance Layoffs??

I would like to know how many people were let go in the country. Sounds like a lot! I heard 20 respiratory reps in Seattle region, not sure about diabetes, but heard about a few individuals.

This is awful, but I can’t say I’m surprised. One of the best reps in my District was let go today. 3 kids, right before Christmas. Any performance issues for her were out of her control. Previous award winner. Looking elsewhere ASAP. Not the place to be. Run if you can.

After 15 years, I left AZ 2 years ago and it was the best decision I’ve ever made! I feel bad for what happened to some of my former co workers today, as some of them are still close friends. Look at it this way, this may be the best thing that ever happens to you! There are many jobs out there and from experience I can tell you they are all better paying than AZ!! Take your severance and start looking right away.
Good luck to all that got let go today. Don’t worry, it will all work out and eventually be the best thing that ever happened to you.

Needed to hear this. Thank you

I got laid off today and I'm still stunned. I have horrible access and my managed care coverage is awful. Farxiga is covered under 40% of the plans in my area and I'm the low performer. How about upper management and the market access team?? It would be interesting how many of the laid off reps work in areas that have limited access and poor insurance coverage. I'm sure it makes up 90% or more. Would love to see how many reps were laid off in the midwest versus other areas. My area got hammered.
Same here. But not sure about my area. Horribly disappointed in this company

same here. I’m sorry to hear. I’m still shocked. Just finished last quarter at 113%. Not sure how my area was affected

im sure they ran a computer spreadsheet, rather than look at each individual person and their ability. I’m sure there were many great reps stuck in bad situations that are no longer part of the AZ family. So disappointing!! Merry Christmas SSLT
That’s exactly what they did. The rep I know who was let go had scored a 5 in behaviors for the last 6 years

I already applied for several jobs today. POS Company is not worth it! I feel so bad for all the reps let go!

The territory/access bullshit is a poor excuse for subpar performance. Better get your asses in gear or you all will be getting your walking papers. We can’t afford to carry you anymore.

To those mutually separated today, it’s terrible news and is horrible that so many good people lost jobs.

There IS life outside AZ. The job market IS good. Terrible day but it WILL get better for you. Not sure those of us left behind at AZ can say the same.

truth be told we are sales people and this happens, and a lot this is just out of reps control. I honest just don’t like the timing and how it was done. You couldn’t have just put them in a plan and see if that would have changed things. Also right before Christmas! Really would it have hurt AZ to have waited 34 more days to do this? Also did managers and CBS’s lose their jobs? I know folks at home office lost their jobs as well. It’s just a shitty thing to do.

I wonder what percentage of 50 and 60 somethings were let go early to go out to pasture? It's a cruel cruel world in and out of pharma, worst time ever to look and be hired for that cherry job with big fat salary. No one will match the salary of the long term rep, it just doesn't happen anymore. Ask those who've been looking for a replacement job for months and taking 40% cut in pay just for the healthcare benefits. Long gone are the golden days, unless you get a gig with Amgen or someone like that. Oh, I forgot, the average hiring age for those biotechs is the age of most of our kids - 26-28. oooppppsss!

  • I lost my job with AZ more than two years ago. I had been through multiple layoffs but my numbers were solid and I was well thought of and hadn't prepared to lose my job. Guess what? Losing my job was a blessing. Despite my age, my double digit years of experience, my 100K+ salary/bonus -- I easily found a better pharma position. I work for a company now that genuinely values its employees. AZ doesn't. When I was at AZ, I honestly didn't recognize that. A friend of mine lost their job yesterday and did not have an inkling a national lay-off was about to happen. I had three friends there that were phenomenal reps and AZ was not willing to give them AN INTERVIEW for an oncology position. My current company promotes from within. They believe the strongest asset they have is their employees. My heart is sad for those that lost their jobs yesterday. My heart is sad for their teammates that now will have more accounts and more challenges - but won't be compensated or acknowledged in any way for that. The ones that were freed yesterday will, ultimately, be alright and will recognize in the very near future that it was, in fact, a blessing.
